ah but what better example of your quick thinking and overall brilliantness to persuade your assessor that you're an EYP!

Good on you for acting so promptly and shame on the church warden for not supporting you.

Enjoy your weekend!

oh dear, if you hadn't turned the gas off and ther was some type of explosion the hall committee wouldn't have been happy about that either, no win situation it seems. :o

Hali, I'm curious, obviously everyone were not able to return to the building after evacuation (or were they?). Where did you take the children in this event? Were you able to contact all parents? Just interested in how the 'event' panned out and if there are any lessons we could learn from your experience.

Hope you had a stressless evening last night.

Peggy i started to contact children straight away and we kept children in the front car park whilst some parents arrived (10 mins) then when we were left with about 10 childen we escorted them over to the church to await further parents. We evacuated at 10.50 am and by 11.30 all children had gone home.

The only thing that made me chuckle was parents asking to get in the building for bags and trikes!!!!!!!!

xD:o:(

Thanks Hali, how did you know when it was safe to return to the building? Who did you call the Gas man?

Sorry if I sound ignorant but haven't ever thought this one through myself.

'Ignorant' and 'Peggy' aren't obvious bedfellows are they? xD

I know what you mean though Peggy - we don't have a carbon monoxide detector (but then thinking about it we don't have any gas appliances :o ). Is it a requirement to have one of these detectors if you have gas-fired central heating? And if so how many groups actually have them.

I think we should be told! :(

I'm not sure of the answer to your question, I would tink they are ncessary, only through experience a previous boyfriends brother, wife and two children almost died due to carbon monoxide poisoning, it was shear luck that the wife managed to remain conctious (spl) just enough to raise the alarm. they were new tenants in a pub, the heating was faulty.

I also had to give up hairdressing in my teens, I suffered extreme migraine type symptoms every day, doctors thought it was the hairsprays etc. It wasn't until I left and someone else was affected that they realised it was the water heater giving off toxic fumes. :o

Oh by the way, thanks, when I refer to myself as ignorant, it is of course just in the VERY short term :(:( until I learn the 'knowledge' from this site. xD

Igorant - you - nooo Peggy.

Well after evacuating and n hour later being shoited at in the car park by church rep!!!!!! to ask why i hadnt ventilated hall! - he did that and alarm stopped.

So left it another 30 mins and with windows and doors open went in to clear all 'pink' things away, pour milkshake down the sink etc :(:(:(

Church rep then said he would get gas man out at some point that afternoon - and we could open for afternoon session but would have no heat - as we had turned gas mains off and shouldnt have!!!!!! xD

personally i think all settings should have detectors if you have gas just as you would have for fire alarms! :o

Ignorant again, I've never been 'shoited ' before, what does that feel like :oxD
