  1. Hi, I have a child who will soon be holidaying abroad where the coronavirus is spiking again and the R rate is currently 2.6. As a Childminder would you be advising they do not return to your setting until 7 days after they return to the uk? Would you also apply this to children who are holidaying in the UK if the R rate is high (R1+)in those areas too. I am aware the government guidance specifies no quarantine rules from certain countries but if children are returning from areas where the R rate has increased then coming into your home when they get back this could potentially put other children and my own family at greater risk. Would love to know your thoughts on this - thank you

  3. I am a PhD researcher at the Institute of Education, UCL, exploring the impact that the 30 funded hours policy is having on settings. The study takes a broad view and seeks to examine how the policy impacts upon the day-to-day running of settings, the finances of settings, the children and families, the practitioners and so on. If you work in any setting that offers the 15 and 30 funded hours and would be happy to discuss your experiences of the 30 hours policy in an interview lasting around 45 minutes, please do e-mail me at s.vince.14@ucl.ac.uk. The project has been approved by the UCL ethics committee. Many thanks Sharon Vince PhD Researcher, Institute of Education, UCL

  7. Hi there, My Name is Tracey, I'm a childminder on the Wirral. I'm new to Tapestry and just getting my head around it but loving the ease at which I can now do the learning journal observations. or I was until android decided to send me a mobile phone update. The latest update is called PIE and android will be sending it out automatically to all uses (like it or not) unfortunately the Tapestry app is not compatible with the new update, as you will all discover when you all get your upgrade. Can anyone tell me when Tapestry will be updating there systems to accommodate to new version? I was told by android that all app providers were informed of the new update over three months ago and it is up to the app provider to update there systems. Can anyone please help. Kind regards, Tracey.
  8. Hi all, We're a committee run Nursery who run out of a rented building upon a school site. We're hoping to set up a breakfast with the school and are looking into the possibilty of running this in the school hall. Although we are on the same site we are registered separately and would need to register the school site as an additional premises with Ofsted. Does anyone out there have any experience of this process - is it fairly straightforward/worth doing? Thanks in advance!
