Teething problems with messaging
JackTapestrySupport replied to Glitterstar's topic in Tapestry tutorials
Hi, @Glitterstar Thanks for getting in touch. A "group messaging" function is something we are looking into, so I've passed your feedback along to our development team. We will update you here with any developments. Just so you know, Managers on Tapestry are able to view all conversations, even ones between other staff and relatives. While they can't reply within those conversations, they can at least check them. Also, if you did want to send a group message to multiple relatives right now, you can use the Memos feature for this: I hope that helps. Do let me know if you need anything else :) -

Hello and welcome to our July newsletter If you’re considering using Tapestry Online Learning Journal but aren’t yet a customer, take a look at how it can help you transform learning outcomes for children in EYFS right through to Year 6 - click a link below: I work at a Nursery I'm a Childminder I work in Reception I work in a school If you’re already a customer, read on for our latest news and updates, including: Messaging now available Body Maps now available Printed Journals Survey Results iOS app update New CPD Course: An Introduction to Educator Wellbeing An article from Tapestry’s education team Book Pre-orders now open We hope you enjoy catching up on our news, and we always welcome your feedback. Best wishes, The Tapestry Team Messaging Now Available We are excited to announce the arrival of our newest feature: Messaging! Messaging allows you to quickly and securely communicate with other staff and relatives. Messages can be sent and received via the browser, iOS, Android, or Fire app meaning they’re easy to access for all users. Messages must be between two individuals, and at least one of those must be a staff member - so two staff members can use it to talk to each other, but relatives cannot connect with other relatives. Start using Messaging today. Managers can enable this feature from Control Panel -> Features. More information can be found on the feature page. Body Maps Now Available We are also happy to announce you can now add a body map to your accident forms when creating them from the browser or the Android app. When adding your accident form, you’ll now see a blue button for “+ Add Body Map”. Simply circle the affected area and “save”. Reminder: Printed Journals As we near the end of the academic year you might be thinking about sending families the downloadable copy of their child’s Tapestry journal. You could also let them know that their PDF journals can now be turned into beautiful printed books! Relatives can order these directly from within Tapestry after you generate the PDF for them. But you can also order printed journals on behalf of your relatives in bulk! For more information, please visit the feature page. iOS App Update We’ve rolled out a couple of updates to the iOS app in the past few weeks. These brought several changes, but the most notable are that the Care Diary and Register are now available on the iOS app! These new areas should both appear on the bottom task bar within the app. Please ensure you’re using the most up-to-date version of the app via the AppStore and keep an eye out there for further improvements. Survey Results The results are in! Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate in our survey this year. As always, the findings are an interesting insight into the sector – this time focusing on the expanded offer for two year olds, advice to the next government, and how we make and use observations. We have prepared a blog post discussing some of the findings which you can read here. New CPD Course: An Introduction to Educator Wellbeing We have another new CPD course this month. Created by early years educator Kate Moxley, this course has been created to support and promote awareness of wellbeing and positive mental health for educators. Access the full course here. An article from Tapestry’s education team Ben, from our education team, has recently written an article for Nursery World reflecting on how early years educators can ensure collective events and celebrations are inclusive for all children and families. You can read the article here. The Inclusive Early Years Educator: A Reflective Toolkit This new book, written by Early Years Inclusion Officer at Doncaster Council, Ann Lowe, and Tapestry’s SEND Advisor Stephen Kilgour, encourages us to change our mindset when it comes to children with learning differences and disabilities, considering areas where our provision needs adjustment and guiding us to strive to be truly inclusive. The book: Provides a holistic picture of a child’s learning, considering an array of reflective opportunities, while always keeping the child at the centre of our thoughts. Includes a wealth of real-life case studies and worked examples. Features a diverse range of contributions from early years professionals as well as the voices of parents. Contains printable forms to encourage and consolidate reflections throughout the book. Is full of signposting and links to further resources and reading, making it an essential guide for the early years. It’s now available for pre-order and comes out on July 11th. Pre order your copy here.

JackTapestrySupport replied to Harris72's topic in Tapestry user conversations
Hi, @Harris72 Thanks for getting in touch. You should still be able to do it. You just need to hold your finger down on the selected image for a couple of seconds. This will allow you to then select multiple images to upload. I hope that helps! Best wishes, Jack Tapestry Support Team- 1 reply

Hello and welcome to our June newsletter If you’re considering using Tapestry Online Learning Journal but aren’t yet a customer, take a look at how it can help you transform learning outcomes for children in EYFS right through to Year 6 - click a link below: I work in an early years setting I lead a Nursery Chain I work in a school If you’re already a customer, read on for our latest news and updates, including: Reminder: Printed Journals Now Available New Articles to Support Your CPD A New “Beginner’s Guide” Last chance to complete our 2024 survey We hope you enjoy catching up on our news, and we always welcome your feedback. Best wishes, The Tapestry Team Printed Journals Now Available You may have seen that we’ve recently teamed up with Group Hugs to start offering a service which turns your children’s PDF journals into beautiful printed books. After listening to some questions and feedback, we’ve compiled a few bits of advice to help you get the most from this service: Make sure to export journals from the Control Panel. If you're not sure how, this guide will show you all the steps. By default, the PDF export will include a cover page, a contents page, and observations will run one after each other (the option is called 'split across pages'). We recommend leaving those as they are. You can make the books even more special by adding a profile picture for the child (and including the cover page when generating the PDF) and by adding your school/setting logo. Doing this will mean the child's photo appears on the front cover of the book and your logo will appear in the top right-hand corner of each page, instead of the Tapestry logo. Lastly, we’d recommend reminding parents to download the PDF to their computer/device even if they do buy the printed journal as well. More information on Printed Journals, as well as some FAQs, can be found on this page. New Articles to Support Your CPD We have two new articles this month: Anya, from our Education Team, attended the MHFA England, Adult, Mental Health First Aid (MHFAider®) course, delivered by Kate Moxley, who is an Instructor Member and the founder of Wellness for All. Here, Anya reflects on some key things she learned from the course. And manny, Joss Cambridge-Simmons, reflects on the importance of being present for children, how presence equals love, and how to cultivate a feeling of safety. A New “Beginner’s Guide” The free document ‘A Beginner’s Guide to Islam’ has been written by Suma Din to help childminders, nurseries and schools have a better understanding of Islam. Last chance to complete the 2024 Tapestry Survey Just a reminder to complete the Tapestry Survey if you haven’t already! The survey is for everyone working in the early years and primary education sectors. We’d love to hear from you on topics such as the expanded offer for two-year-olds, how educators are using AI, and proposed Labour early years and education policies. The survey should take 5-8 minutes to complete, and it closes on 7th June. To take part, please follow this link.

In this tutorial we’re going to look at how to export your relative’s details from Tapestry. Doing this will provide you with either a PDF or CSV file showing all your relative’s details which include: names, emails, phone numbers, collection passwords and linked children. First, click your name in the top right and then select Control Panel. Within Control Panel, select Manage Relatives from the menu on the left and then scroll to the bottom of this page. At the bottom you will see two options for exporting your relative’s details: export as a PDF and export as a CSV. Clicking either of these will automatically start downloading in your preferred format. The CSV format will look something like this: And the PDF will look something like this: Back to Main Tutorials Page

Collection password on registers
JackTapestrySupport replied to Tweetinat's topic in Weavers Future Development Suggestions
Hi there. I'm just getting in touch to let you know you can now add a "collection password" to a relative's account! You'll see the box when adding any new relative, but you can also add one for existing relatives by clicking "edit" next to their name on the Manage Relatives screen. The collection passwords for all relatives can be viewed by exporting your relative's details. Just scroll down to the bottom of Manage Relatives and you'll see two options for exporting the list. We are also making some changes to how you navigate Tapestry soon, and the collection password will be made more visible after we do so. Would you like me to contact you again when those navigation changes occur? I look forward to hearing from you soon :) -

summative assessment
JackTapestrySupport replied to nicola_blackman's topic in Tapestry user conversations
Hi, Nicola. Thanks for your question. We are currently working on a Summative Assessment screen which will be compatible with your bespoke frameworks. Would you like us to update you directly when that comes out? I appreciate you may have added your bespoke framework for a specific reason but just so you know we do have as assessment framework for the new ELGs already. It's called ELG 2021 and you can enable it from Control Panel > Settings > Assessments. This frameworks feeds directly into the EYFSP screen which can be accessed from Tracking > ELG 2021. If it's the new EYFS framework you mean, then you can read more about how we've incorporated that into Tapestry in these guides: Setting up EYFS 2021 Using the new EYFS 2021 framework I hope that helps! Let me know if you need anything else :)- 1 reply

A new article in appreciation of school libraries We hope you enjoy catching up on our news, and we always welcome your feedback. Best wishes, The Tapestry Team New Tapestry Feature – Staff Register We are happy to announce another new feature in our management system! Alongside the register for children, we now have an online Staff Register. This register lets your team members sign themselves and their colleagues in and out. Some of the key functionality includes: Order the staff list by first or last name. Record notes and edit or delete in/out times as needed. Click on a staff member’s name to see their registration history for the day - when they were signed in and out and by whom. View any edits to sign in/out times in your History section. The history entry will include the original time. Like all our existing features, the Staff Register is available for free to all Tapestry customers. Improvements to the Booking Feature In addition to the above, we’ve also made some smaller improvements to parts of the management system. Firstly, you can now send payment reminders to bill payers: we’ve added the ability to send a short message from Tapestry telling them how much is owed and how to pay it. You’ll find a button to do this on a child’s “Finance” tab. Secondly, we’ve made it easier for you to see exactly how many unpaid and unsent invoices there are on your account. Just go to Finance -> Invoices and you’ll see the tabs at the top. We’ve also made tweaks to some warning messages to make them clearer, added some new History events and made improvements to the register layout on smaller screens. In recognition of this important week to reflect on and engage with educator wellbeing, founder Kate Moxley has created a new free resource: Championing Wellbeing, a Toolkit for Early Years Educators. The toolkit, which can be downloaded here, is designed to help guide practitioners in reflecting, evaluating and building their own bank of practical ideas for promoting compassion resilience. It includes information on how to promote wellbeing in your setting, support wellness action planning, promote professional dialogue around wellbeing and much more. Professor Eunice Lumsden and Warda Farah joined Kate, along with Jules and Stephen from the Tapestry education team, in a special edition of our podcast for Early Years Wellbeing Week. Their discussion centered on an intersectional approach to cultivating wellbeing, and you can listen to it here, or wherever you get your podcasts. This is a good moment to remind you of the Beginner's Guides written by Warda and Kate, and of the Mandela Model Workbook written by Eunice - you can download them from the links below: A Beginner's Guide to Intersectionality in the Early Years by Warda Farah A Beginner's Guide to Educator Wellbeing by Kate Moxley The Mandela Model Workbook by Professor Eunice Lumsden Important Information About Security and Safeguarding on Tapestry Whenever you're adding relatives to your Tapestry account, we recommend taking the following security and safeguarding precautions as you do so. And if you've already added lots of parents, it is still worth checking through this list: Have you double checked your relatives’ email addresses to ensure they are correct? It’s important to ensure these are correct because if an email is entered incorrectly and belongs to someone else, they could gain access to the Tapestry account by resetting the password. When considering the security and safeguarding around your Tapestry account it’s also worth thinking about your passwords. Tapestry accounts are only as secure as the passwords that protect them. It’s important to never share your Tapestry password with anyone else and to ensure your password is as strong as possible. You can read current government advice about password setting here. If you are the only person using a device to access Tapestry and the device supports Face ID or fingerprint unlocking we would recommend enabling these for the Tapestry app (this will make it quicker and easier for you to login as well!). Have you checked how your User Permissions are set on your account? These control what non-manager staff and relatives can do and see on an account so it’s worth ensuring these are set up appropriately for your setting. Once you’ve checked these you may also want to set up a fake parent account for yourself and login to this so you are clear what parents can see from their end. It’s also worth taking the time to check what users you have set up on your account. If you still have staff, parents or children on your account who no longer need to be there, we would recommend deleting them to ensure you are in line with your data retention policy. Are relatives linked to the correct children? Children and relatives have to be manually linked together on Tapestry in order for parents to be able to see entries on Tapestry for their child/ren. When you do this it’s important to ensure the correct children are linked to the correct relatives otherwise parents will be able to see entries for other children. This tutorial talks you through how to link parents to children. A Quick Note on Some Recent Changes to Amazon Fires It appears that Amazon have issued an update to their Gallery/Camera software which prevents users from uploading multiple bits of media at the same time. As this is something Amazon have changed themselves, regrettably it's not something we're able to control. However, if you use the Tapestry app to upload observations you can still select multiple items of media if you choose to select media from the 'Camera' folder.

Best wishes, The Tapestry Team Several key updates to our Management System We are excited to announce more functionality for our management system. For full details on all the changes we’ve made this month, please take a look at this post. There are two main updates. First is the addition of “Extra Charges” (sometimes referred to as ‘consumables’) which allows you to add a charge for anything you want to a child’s schedule or on an ad-hoc basis. This is great for regularly charging for meals, nappies etc or for one-off charges like trips. Secondly, you can now assign ‘Bill Payers’ and send invoices directly to relatives from Tapestry. After you’ve chosen the relatives responsible for paying invoices for each child, you can send them a copy of the invoice with the click of a button. Other updates include new filter and configuration options for invoices, pre-populating new regular schedules for quicker set-up, and other quality-of-life tweaks. New courses and guides to support your CPD We have two new CPD courses and another “beginner’s guide” this month. Emily who heads our Product Support team, and Ben from our Education Team, have combined their knowledge and experience to bring you “Parental Engagement” on Tapestry CPD. This course focuses on strategies for involving parents in their child's learning journal. Access the full course here. Meanwhile, Alexandra from our Product Support team has created “The Care Diary on Tapestry”, which covers everything you need to know about using the Care Diary. Access the full course here. The collection of free beginner's guide resources continues to grow, and this month child psychologist Siya Mngaza has written “The Beginner’s Guide to Belonging”. This is designed to support childminders, nurseries and schools interested in having necessary conversations about belonging. Download the full guide here. Introducing: The Mandela Model Workbook We are delighted to share The Mandela Model Workbook, written by Professor Eunice Lumsden. This is a free, interactive resource which is designed to help early years leaders develop and foster belonging for the families and staff in their setting's community. You can watch Eunice explaining more about the workbook, and download it, here. A reminder about ‘Rosie’s Story’ This month is a great opportunity to remind you about “Rosie’s Story”, as Rosie has just turned 2! The on-going video series about Rosie started on her very first day. It documents Rosie’s development and how she interacts with the world as she grows up; a great resource for exploring child development. For more information, visit this page. And a very happy 2nd birthday to Rosie! Early Education’s Centenary Book We’d like to draw attention to Early Education’s Centenary book which is now on sale on their website. The book is titled “Early Childhood Education: Current realities and future priorities” and features a wide range of sector professionals as chapter authors. Map and Assessment
JackTapestrySupport replied to JigsawBritishSchool's topic in Tapestry conversations for KS1 and KS2 users
Hi! Thanks for getting in touch; I'd be happy to help. First of all, if you haven't found this already, I'd definitely recommend this tutorial as it covers a lot of info about MAPs To answer your questions, yes you do need to set MAPs for each child each year, as each framework has a different MAP screen under Tracking Yes, your child's MAP can be calculated from the summative assessment scores, but it can't be automatically transferred over. As above, you'll need to manually set it each year. As for your last question, you can use multiple different assessment frameworks with the same child so you could use the Y3 framework for observations in Spoken language for example. But this might make the tracking side confusing as you'd need to be looking at the Y3 screen for spoken language but the Y4 screens for everything else. Personally what I would do is have one of my tiers as "working towards" or something similar and use this for their Y4 summative assessments in Spoken Language as, even though they are working at a year 3 level, they are still working towards year 4. Also if they Year 4 MAP for spoken language is "working towards" then they are still achieving that. Alternatively, you could have a tier which is "working below" to signify this. I hope that makes sense! Let me know if you need anything else :) -

In this tutorial we are going to look at how to send an individual invoice through Tapestry. If you would like to bulk send invoices, please take a look at this tutorial. Before we begin please note, in order to send an invoice a child needs to have bill payers set. For information on how to set a child's bill payers, please refer to this tutorial. Invoices are sent to relatives through Tapestry via email and internal notifications. The email is sent as soon as you send an invoice to a child's bill payers and is sent regardless of whether relatives are permitted to receive notifications through your Tapestry account or not. There are two places within the Tapestry Booking feature where you can send invoices: from the individual child's 'Invoices' tab and from the main 'Invoices' page. You can use the below links if you want to skip to a specific section: 1) From the individual child's 'Invoices' tab 2) From the main 'Invoices' page I'll start by going through how to do this from a child's Invoices page. Sending an invoice through the child's page First click on 'Management System' from the top task bar (1) and select 'Children' from the left-hand menu (2). Then click on the child you want to send the invoice for (3) and navigate to their 'Finance' tab (4). To just view the child's invoices, click the 'Invoices' tab (5). Here you will see all the invoices for this child. If you have no invoices, you can create one by clicking the '+ New' button (1). If there is an invoice on the list, you can send it - among other actions - by clicking the cog menu (2) and then selecting 'Send Invoice' (3). You'll now see confirmation that the invoice has been sent (1) and the status of your invoice will have changed to 'Sent' (2). As mentioned at the start, this invoice will be sent to the child's bill payer/s via email. Sending an invoice through the main Invoices page To get to the main invoices page click 'Management System' from the top task bar (1), select the 'Finance' tab from the left-hand menu (2) and then 'Invoices' (3). This page shows you all the invoices for all the children on your account. Similarly to the previous method, to send an invoice just click the cog menu next to the invoice you wish to send (1) and click "Send Invoice (2). And that's how you send invoices using Tapestry. If you want to check whether an invoice has been sent, if you click on the invoice at the bottom you will see a 'History' section. There you will be able to see if the invoice has been sent to a bill payer (1) and the date/time this happened (2). If you have any questions please get in touch with us by emailing customer.service@eyfs.info. Back to Main Tutorials Page

In this tutorial we're going to look at how to assign "Bill Payers" to your children. Bill payers are the relatives that receive copies of invoices via email when you send them through Tapestry. Any other relatives linked to a child who are not set up as bill payers will not receive copies of invoices. Please note, in order to assign bill payers, relatives and children will need to be linked on your account. If you haven't done this yet, this tutorial talks you through how. There are a few ways you can set a child's bill payers. I'll firstly show you how to do this from within the Management System. Let's look at how to get there. First click 'Management System' on the top task bar (1), and select 'Children' from the left-hand menu (2). You'll then need to click on the child you want to set the bill payers for (3) and then navigate to their 'Finance' tab (4). On this screen, you will see a list of all the transactions for this child. On the right-hand side you can also see their account balance, billing address and you can assign bill payers. Click on the pencil button to add or edit a child's bill payers. After clicking on this button, a pop up box will appear listing all the relatives linked to the child. Select which relatives you want to assign as bill payers using the tick boxes down the right-hand side (1) and then click 'Confirm' (2). If no relatives have been linked to the child, you will see a warning message about this and asking you to click on the button 'manage relatives'. You should now see confirmation that your new bill payers have been saved (1). You can change this at any point by clicking on the pencil icon again (2). You can also assign bill payers to children from the Manage Relatives page on the Control Panel. You can access this page by clicking on your name in the top right-hand corner (1) and selecting 'Control Panel' from the drop-down (2). Once you are on the Control Panel you'll then need to select 'Manage Relatives' from the left-hand side (3). If you want to do this for just one parent you can find their name in the list and click on the 'Edit' button. Then scroll to the bottom of the page. In the 'Related Children' section you'll see any children linked to this parent. You then just need to tick the 'Bill Payer' box and 'Save' (2). If you need to do this for several relatives you may find it slightly quicker to go to the 'Manage Relationships' page. The button to access this can be found at the top of the Manage Relatives screen. Here you will see a list of all relatives and any children they are linked to. Click on the 'Manage Relationships' button for a relative to proceed. This will bring a pop-up box with a list of all the children on your account. Any children linked to this parent will have tick boxes for 'parental responsibility' and 'bill payer' underneath the child's name. You then just need to select the 'Bill Payer' tick box (1) and hit 'Save' (2). And that's how you assign bill payers to children! This tutorial will talk you through how you can then send invoices to bill payers. Back to Main Tutorials Page

In this tutorial, we’re going to be looking at the Invoice Data Export screen. This screen compiles data from the invoicing part of our Management System into a CSV file. There’s a few different options and formats which we’ll go through now. Firstly, to find this screen just click “Management System” (1) -> “Exports” (2) -> and select "Invoice CSV Export" in the "Invoices" section (3). Here you will see the data export screen; it has 3 sections you can use to customise what data is included on your CSV. The first section is the Date Range. There are two options in the date range section which decide what invoices are included in the export. Invoice date - only invoices that have an invoice date within the month or custom period selected will be included in the export. Period invoiced for - any invoices that include the period which you select when exporting. For example, if you had an invoice that was generated in August and covered the period 1st August-31st October, if you choose the first option (invoice date), this invoice would only show up if you selected the export month as August. If you select the second option (period invoiced for), this invoice would be included if you selected the export month as August, September or October. By default the month selected will be the month you’re currently in, but you can change the month simply by clicking it (3). You can also set your own custom date range by clicking the “Use Custom Date Range” button (4). The second section is Children. Here you can choose to export data for all children: Or for children in a specific room: And finally, for one specific child. The last section is Format. You have two options here; “Invoices” (1) and “Invoice Summary Lines” (2). The first option gives you one line per invoice on your CSV. It will show the following data for invoices within date range you have chosen, for the child(ren) you have chosen. Invoice number Invoice date Due date Period from Period to Child’s name Amount Invoice status Payment Status Notes It will look something like this: The second option, “Invoice Summary Lines”, will give you more detail on the specific charges within the invoice; it will show you the individual charges within the same invoice. For example, if an invoice has charges for Regular Schedule Bookings, Extra Charges, Extra Bookings or Refunds this will be shown on the Summary Line Item column. It will look something like this: Once you're happy with all the format options, just click "Generate CSV" at the bottom. So that’s how you export your invoice data. If you have any questions, please email us at customer.service@eyfs.info. Go back to Main Tutorials Page

Hi, @Mouseketeer Yes, there is a similar situation with Android moving forward; as outlined in that tutorial: "We have ended support for Android 4.4 (Amazon Fire OS equivalent 3.1) and below. The last version of the Android app available on Android devices 4.4/Amazon Fire OS 3.1 and lower is 4.0.6. We will also soon be phasing out support for Android versions lower than 8 (Amazon Fire OS equivalent 7.3.2.2). Though future updates will be available on these devices, from the next app update we will not be able to support issues on devices with these Android or Amazon OS versions." I hope that helps :)
-
Hello @Mouseketeer! How have you been? With regards to your current Fires, you should still be able to add multiple pictures at the same time. Have you tried holding your finger down on one for a few seconds? That should select it and allow you to select others. As for new devices, I would definitely recommend reading this article first - The iPhone 6s you mention are only capable of having iOS 12 as the most recent one and we are no longer supporting the Tapestry app for iOS versions 14 and below. If you settle on some kind of Apple device, just check that it can support iOS 15 or above and you'll be able to get the most recent app updates. I hope that helps! :)
