mundia Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Just to remind you in case you haven't seen the calendar, there is a total lunar eclipse tomorrow (or tonight if you' reading this on Saturday!!). The weather forecast is hopeful for the evening and the eclipse begins at 9.30 and totality is from 10.45 to nearly midnight. Go on, take a look.... (wellies not required... ) Quote
Susan Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Nor are clouds. I do hope its a clear night and I have the energy to stay awake and look! Quote
Guest Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Our weather forecast is not brilliant! Why oh why is it always raining or cloudy when there is something fantastic to see in the sky? I will be watching weather permitting. Linda Quote
Lorna Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I hope to have a look but will depend on how early my respite lad wakes up in the morning as to whether I will be fast asleep by then. Thanks for the info Mundia. L Quote
Guest Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Oh I hope it's clear where I live tonight - my 13 year old son has arranged a sleep over for.....wait for it.....10 boys!!! I could shove them all outside to watch the lunar eclipse from a tent Quote
Beau Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Lovely clear skies here at the moment so it's looking good for later. Quote
Guest Wolfie Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Sam....when you say SLEEPover!! I remember the days of our lounge floor covered in teenage boys, none of whom had slept a wink (and neither had we!!) Still, make the most of it - our oldest is due to leave for uni in September and I'm DREADING the peace and quiet!! Quote
SmileyPR Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I hope we can also see it here on the other side of the channel . Do we have to take the same precautions as for a solar eclipse ? Quote
Susan Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Quite bright and sunny here too although it seems to have got duller in the last few minutes! Quote
mundia Posted March 3, 2007 Author Posted March 3, 2007 Yes Smiley visible from all over Europe, and no precautions are necessary (unless you live next door to be then you might want earplugs in case the howling disturbs you!!) Quote
Marion Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Thanks hope its a clear night and the clouds stay away. Quote
JacquieL Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Glorious day here but now I see a few clouds on the horizen- oh dear Quote

Guest Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 It was really clear here at about 7.30pm but now there are a few clouds in the sky. I'm hoping they are going to keep moving so that we get at least some sight of the eclipse-fingers crossed!! Linda Quote
Steve Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 All crystal clear here. No obvious difference in the moon's light yet - hopefully the umbra period will be more dramatic! Quote
Guest Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I've just looked out of the window and it's a lovely clear sky and the eclipse is just starting! I must remember to leave the computer and have another look later. Anita Quote

JacquieL Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I'm just having a hot drink too as it is rather nippy here as well. It looks very good. The sky is clear and the stars are bright. I'll see if OH's piccies are any good later. The cat thinks we have gone mad and is following us about but won't go outside. No frogs here just our very peaceful neighbours. Quote
Guest Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Have got a very sore neck now!!! I had the binoculars out and it looks fantastic! Linda Quote
