Hi All

During one of our committee meetings (discussing the endless maintenance work we have to carry out as we have a a full repairing lease) someone mentioned whether we could apply for any grants (for example national lottery)

I wouldn't really know where to start, when I joined our committee we had a strong bank balance and have made loads of improvements to our setting including tree house and mud kitchen for the garden. We get no help for the building maintenance from the landlord who are our local council.

Our roof will need replacing one day....is this something worth considering?

Had anyone had any success in applying for any grants to improve their service/setting ?

We are a charity/limited by guarantee company.

Thanks

C

Tesco, Waitrose and Asda offer funding with Bags for Life and similar - I recently received £4000 from Tesco and you can apply as many times as you like - Also used Lottery Funding although that was a long time ago.  It is also worth asking parents if they have any employee reward schemes, we had £150 from Worcester Bosch and the local school get a good donation from a local business every year.  It is a little time consuming but worth doing but I agree surely the landlord are responsible for the building maintenance - worth checking your lease.

Nope landlord is not responsible.

We have a strange lease where it is 'full repairing and insuring' so we are responsible for all maintenance and repairs for a small (to them) nominal rent.

I may email the council/landlord and see what they say but we've just had to rebuild a brick wall out of our own funds.

We'll look into something. Over the past ten years money has been put asside but with rising costs not sure how long before we need that.

We've been based in the building 25+ years I believe...the council know we're there. It would probably cost them alot more to offer to anyone else!
