I cancelled a meet-up Wednesday due to a lot of places closing early together with restricted menus. Might be better as it's a weekend though- rather than mid week? 1 Quote
zigzag Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Wow, I had a lot to catch up on. I’m sorry I’ve missed the last couple of weeks Friday roll call. No reason at all for this, except to say the weeks seem to be flying by like someone has pressed fast forward. All good down here, very hot but I know we are lucky as we have been almost 10 degrees cooler most days. It’s still way too hot for me though. I’ve been walking dogs at 6:30, showering, going to work, showering, all interspersed with hot flushes! I should be so slim (I’m not) We had a storm last night but it hasn’t broken the weather and today was sticky and hot. Hope you all get some respite from the intense heat soon. Xx 1 1 Quote

sunnyday Posted 7 hours ago Author Posted 7 hours ago Who had the storms last night - my goodness it was all very dramatic! Lunch date is going ahead - it is so difficult to find a date that we can all make so another reason that I was reluctant to reschedule - it's a bit cooler (so far) so hopefully be okay (fingers crossed). Mr S seems (touch wood) a bit better today so he can manage without his 'caring fairy' for a couple of hours... Have a lovely all x 1 Quote
zigzag Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I hope the caring fairy enjoys her lunch, sounds like she deserves it. Tell Mr S to behave himself while you are gone. 1 Quote

Have a lovely all x I think the heat has shifted up a bit, we've still got another hot day. Really hope you enjoy your lunch, I know what you mean about finding dates for everything! 😊 I got up to watch the storm, but it was nothing like the one during the week for us just flashes and distant rumbles. Froglet Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago 'Tis Saturday! Sorry I missed yesterday - so good to check in and see updates from lots of you! Sunnyday - I'm glad the caring fairy got to go out - hope you enjoyed your catch up. Sue - loved the poem, that describes me exactly! Zigzag and Louby - no storms here yet. I'm hoping for one today! School for three days this week was interesting - we did lots of things like closing blinds, paddling feet and 'forcing' water on small people but the relentless heat and increasing tiredness due to broken nights' sleep was making for some very hot and bothered people (both the adults and the small ones). I was due to work on Thursday too but the school cancelled as they'd had so many absent due to heat the previous day - to be honest I was relieved! I spent 2 very slow days, doing a few jobs early in the morning and hiding in darkened rooms the rest of the day. It is, thankfully, a little cooler and we have a little breeze today. I'm feeling a little sorry for myself this weekend - 2 days of a really sore throat has become a definite sniffle and then this morning I slipped on an unnoticed wet patch in my kitchen and fell over - wrench my shoulder and think I'll probably have a good couple of bruises next week. It could have been a lot worse though! I've done the usual Saturday jobs plus a little planning for next week at school and have now taken myself to the sofa where I will either read a book or knit some more socks (small and not sticky unlike the crochet blanket!). Enjoy your weekend everyone. Quote
zigzag Posted 28 minutes ago Posted 28 minutes ago Oh froglet, do hope you feel better soon. Rotten to be feeling poorly in this weather. Look after that shoulder, scary how quickly a fall can happen. Quote
