Good morning - 'tis Friday

...and breathe - all went very well for my dear MIL and I thank you again for your kind thoughts and support ❤️

How is everyone?

Half term now - I always find it hard to believe that this one marks 'halfway through the school year'...

No big plans for the weekend or the coming week which suits me just fine really - as per our previous chat I am a bit 'peopled out' 🤣

Take care all x

Morning, quick catch up before we're off for the weekend. (I'm going to have to put on a 'social face'  for a couple of days. 😂

Sunnyday, good to hear all went well yesterday. 💐

Froglet - the Works had spring coloured pipecleaners  £1.00 including a 'spring pink' if you wanted to experiment.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

xx

Sunnyday, glad to hear all went well.

Louby - I think that’s what’s known as enabling…😉

I took advantage of a dry couple of hours yesterday and went to admire the snowdrops at Kedleston. There were hundreds of daffodils starting to spike through the ground so I shall plan to go back in a couple of weeks when they’re in bloom and will look stunning. Other than that I have finally made a little more progress on my sock and been immersed in a book as well as eating chocolate cherry scones.

Never - she is just helping you and keeping you updated on goods available from 'The Works' 🤣 I even found myself thinking 'oh do I need any pipe cleaners, they are a real bargain - clearly, I do not need any pipe cleaners 🤦‍♀️

I also spent an age looking at the orange 'things' and puzzling about what they are (carrots of course got there in the end!) 🤣

I was quite tempted by the carrots. In the course of my epic spare room sorting out I have discovered several cotton pulp eggs - I think I bought them when we were doing some work around penguins and needed a penguin egg for each of 4 classes. The cheapest way to get them was to get packs of assorted sizes consequently I have all the leftovers - I may need to do a spring project or two!

Glad all went well Sunnyday. Froglet, chocolate and cherry scones sound delicious, do you have a recipe please?  Lovely to have a dry day here yesterday (until the evening when a mini storm hit) Today is also meant to be nice so hoping to get a few jobs done in the garden. Have a lovely weekend all.

Good morning - 'tis Friday

A nice quiet week - yay -I was more than ready for that.

Tomorrow Mr S and I are treating one of his cousins and his wife to a nice pub lunch - they were so helpful in notifying extended family members about MIL's passing and funeral arrangements - we are very grateful and want to thank them...

I am liking the look of next week's weather forecast - do hope that it is correct - warmer, some sun and no more rain - yes please, bring it on!

Hope that everyone is okay

Have a good weekend all x

Morning all. 😊

Hope everyone has had a good week.

I'm on half term, and it's been my birthday- so lots of chilling out  with family and eating 😮😂

I stared on a fairy, however, I did it during the evening and the next morning she didn't look so good (only did the body though)..... so far she has a 'look' that only a grandaughter could love!😂

Just seen your post Sunnyday, good to hear you had a good week too.x

Glad you've had a restful week Sunnyday and Louby belated happy birthday!

I went to see/help out at a friend's Gilbert and Sullivan performance this week, finished a book that I loved and baked a victoria sponge cake which I haven't done for ages. I have just received my post which included a proper letter from a friend. I have developed a habit of writing a 'Sunday note' each week (although it often gets done on a Monday!) and send them to all sorts of people - the letter this morning was a reply to that.

I have succumbed to getting fairy making supplies so will be joining you in my making attempts Louby. I have nearly finished my tricky socks and have just received the most beautiful purple yarn which I want to use to make an 18th birthday pair of socks for my nephew.

The garlic I planted in December is growing well and I have lots of other bulbs peeping through - very exciting!

Happy weekend all!

Glad everyone has had a happy week. We’ve had nothing but biblical rain here it’s just horrendous. Our roads are literally falling apart with huge gaping pot holes and you risk your car every time you go out! (I know that’s not just down here and it’s a nation wide problem)  I have a days daycare of my grandson on Monday so looking forward to that. Hope everyone has a lovely,y weekend and you get some decent weather soon. The video was my sons view from work the other day!

I've made a start this is my prototype- and she still needs a fair bit more work.

I only purchased, wooden beads (already painted face) and pink pipecleaners.  All other bits are from supplies 😂

I did the pipecleaner 'wrapping' in the evening with bad light.....and it shows!😮😂

Next time I mention a craft project will someone please remind me that I do not need to buy felt, yarn, wadding, interfacing or autumn fabrics! I have just been hunting through my mess carefully curated craft resource collection and discovered plenty of all of the above. I did not, however, discover the yellow and orange fabrics I was actually looking for and know I have somewhere because of the time I bought a load to make chicks to put Easter eggs in. To be fair, I did make lots of the chicks and gifted them but knew I had fabric leftover. I'm now exhausted from searching for what I want, have ribbons and fabric all over the dining table and think I need to sit down with a cup of tea and my knitting!

Could anyone of you Friday friends  use some felting equipment? There are two felting mats, some bags of felt, felting needles etc. Happy to pop it in the In post locker and would only cost  £2.59 postage.

Good morning - 'tis Friday

Funny old week here - eldest granddaughter has been 'proper poorly' with Quinsy - sounds like a word straight out of a Dicken's novel...have to confess that I had no idea what it meant

She has had lots of great hospital treatment involving drips with steroids, penicillin and fluids - then a needle aspiration to draw out the pus (yuck) - latest update this morning is that she is and I quote "feeling much better today" - phew!

Estate Agent coming to value MIL's house for probate this afternoon - poor Mr S he just wishes this wasn't happening and that his dear mum was still with us...

Anyway enough already.

On Sunday I will be going out for lunch with my sister to celebrate a (very) big birthday - although she is now disabled following her botched knee op she really has come on in leaps and bounds 🤞

Zigzag is being a bit of a temptress there with her felting supplies 🤣 I have far too many knitting projects on the go so I am able to resist!

Hope the weekend is kind to all x

Afternnon all.

Quiet week here.  We had 17/18 temp with SUN on Wednesday....cold again Thursday though.

Sunnyday- I have heard of Quinsy, but many many years ago. Hope your GD continues to do well in her recovery.   It took me and my brother a very long time to actually sort my parents house 😢.

Zigzag, I mean to ask have you done  some needle felting?  I did enjoy if for a while 😊....  you could always make a fairy?- the felting wool would make excellent hair!   I'll happily make you a little kit up of the other components if you need them! 😊😊

Froglet - I understand your 'looking for something I know I have' pain.  I must of spent around three hours looking for the crystals for my fairy's dress- then once I did find them they were actually bigger than I remembered 😭🙄... but I still used them after all that effort of finding them! 😂

Hope everyone else is keeping well.

Have a good weekend all.

xx

Hello gentle folk

Apologies for the lack of appearances lately - all been quite busy here and then last Friday I was off up to my sons to help him have a massive sort out.  He moved into his house 3 years ago when his relationship broke up and has not had the energy or time to sort things out over the last few years.

William (now 4) helped sort out his toys and passed some on to 'other boys and girls who might need toys' - he was better at it than I thought he would be for sure lol

Tom managed 15 bags of clothes to the charity shop - the boy is a hoarder for sure and what with charity shop trips and then some tip runs he is feeling much lighter.

Its strange how we accumulate stuff isn't it.....hanging on to it in case we need it at some point and we rarely do.

The weekend for me will be a mix of wet dog walking (the dog will be dry when I start lol) and I have my niece, daughter & her partner and my mum for Sunday lunch so won't matter what the weather does Sunday as I will be in the kitchen or dining room lol

Have a good wekend whatever you end up doing my lovelies.

Sunnyday Quinsy is horrible. Both myself and my son have had it. Mine got treated with a months  worth of antibiotics, but it really was a horrid thing to have, especially as it was making me vomit as well. My throat is now scared from it and I quite regularly get very sore patches In my throat. Luckily they go as quickly as they come. My son ended up in A&E on a drip when he had it. Hope she soon recovers.  Enjoy your lunch on Sunday, good to hear that your sister is much better.

Louby Lou, this was a kit I bought in a mad moment. But I’m really more Autistic than artistic! So I don’t know who I was kidding! I’m not talented at all in handicrafts and it just looked a mess! Your offer is incredibly kind though, thank you. But I think I’ll just offload this somewhere!

No plans here for the weekend except having everyone  down for Sunday dinner. I do so love cooking roast for all the family. Hoping to see some sunshine but who knows!  Have a lovely weekend all.

Are you calling me and Froglet strange! 😮😂😂...... obviously we enjoy spending hours looking for accumulated craft stuff which we just know we will need at some point 😂😂😂

Good to hear you had a good productive decluttering session though.  My GD has reached the age where she can now say 'why don't you take that to work for the children to play with' which I find sweet.

Needle felting doesn't need you to be artistic!  For a really easy make - just find a cookie cutter (heart shape works well)  then fill it with wool and stab away, once it's all matted up- remove from the cutter and needle stab around the edges to 'smooth/round'  it off...   You can even add more felt if you want to make it fuller/fatter. It makes a pretty hanging heart- I guess you could put a few drops of essential oils to make it into car refreasher ? (but I've never tried that!)

Hello all,

Zigzag that is so kind of you but I'm going to resist temptation. After my experiences hunting through craft supplies last week I've decided that I really need to try to use up some of this stuff (clearly apart from the two blankets I have already planned which will need me to buy some new yarn...!)

Sunnyday, glad to hear your granddaughter is on the mend - quinsy definitely does sound Dickensian!

Louby - I think I would have used the crystals too!

Sue - It's clearly the season of sorting out. I sometimes wonder where our need to accumulate and hold on to stuff comes from - I laugh at myself for saving 'nice boxes'! I did have to smile at the idea of you deliberately getting your dog wet before a walk!

Busyish week here. It was so lovely to see some sun! I made myself get up and out more (I've been in a bit of a sluggish fug the last couple of weeks) and I'm sure it did me good. I made a fairy - not at all what I was intending but I like her. I also did my first day supply teaching yesterday which went ok. It ended up being in my last but one school which was actually lovely to find myself in a familiar place with familiar people for my first time. I have several more days booked over the rest of the term - all in one school so wish me luck!

Nothing in particular planned for this weekend - just errands to the library, collecting a prescription and the food shop etc. After that I may make another fairy!

Take care all, have a lovely weekend.
