Guest Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 How does every put children into emerging, expected or exceeding? For example a child aged 30 months, secure in development 22-36 would you put this as exceeding or expected ?
Guest Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I would assess that as expected, they are achieving withing the correct age bracket. If they had elements in the age range above then I would begin to consider whether they were exceeding.
finleysmaid Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 surely you cant have exceeding in learning objectives or they would be on the next age band wouldn't they? 1
Helen Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Yes I agree, and I don't think you could call a child of 30 months who has been assessed in the 30-50 months age-band as exceeding either- because she is still within her actual chronological age-band. 'Exceeding' only really applies to the ELGs.
mundia Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Hi Marier, welcome to the forum. Really, emerging expected exceeding is only for the end of stage ie the EY Foundation stage profile where you are assessing against a specific ELG at the end of the reception year. 1
Guest Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 We use - emerging, developing and secure - at our setting. And that's with all ages - babies through to preschoolers. Hope that helps.
manor Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Hi marier We use Low, Secure or High in our assessments and were given this guide to use from our Early Years people. Age related expectations.doc
