Hi everyone,

I have recently become a manager for a day care nursery, and I was just wondering if any of you use Letters and Sounds or Jolly Phonics. If you do did you send your staff on any training for if, if you did then, where?

Thank you!!

We use both and dip in and out of them. If you can get hold of the letters and sounds DVD it has some good ideas on it of the teaching in practice.

We use the Nursery Narrative, and the Language through Listening www.blacksheeppress.co.uk/products/details?id=86&productname=Nursery+Narrative+Pack&rv=0

And also then the Jolly Phonics to teach them the correct way to form words in prep for school..

These are all very good resources to use with pre-school children and even touching on the Language through Listening with Toddlers

Ye i have printed off the letters and sounds booklet.

Did you send any fo your staff on training or it? If you did where?

All the courses I have found are for the whole of the Letters and sounds and costs quite a bit. They only need to know Phase one and maybe the start of Phase 2.

Yes, same here, we did LA training a few years back. To be honest though, it wasn't brilliant. You'll find load of L and S ideas online and in the pack.
