Beetlebug Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Help, We are having issues with ratios. Is it Ok to mix ratios? For example if you had 10 3 year old and 5 2 yr olds you need 3 staff. In this scenario 2 of the 3 year olds can br counted in the 2 year old ratio. Is this right?
klc106 Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Sounds ok to me. As far as I know you can include 3yrs olds in the 1:4 as long as you still stick to the 1:4 if that makes sense. 1
Fredbear Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Yes you can take the 3/4 yr olds down within the 1/4 for twos but not the other way round.
lsp Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Someone put a grid on here somewhere a few weeks ago that worked different combinations of numbers of children to number of adults. Maybe someone can put a link on or search in forum???
louby loo Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Hope this works If it does I can't take credit for it - I found it on here originally. STAFF RATIOS IN MIXED AGE ROOM.docx
lsp Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Thanks Louby Loo. I knew someone would be able to help Beetle bug. Haven't yet learnt how to add things!
Guest Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Hi all On the subject of ratios. How do you all work with freeflow play. We have an outside area that is accessed through a rear door and our children have freeflow play each morning. we have a minimum of 4 staff each session and up to now have worked with two staff being in and two out at all times. I was always led to believe that the ratios were set for the setting so this was fine. I am now wondering whether this is okay as I have been told that I need to monitor the ratios inside and out and have the appropriate number of staff. This would never work for us. Does anyone else do this and if so how as the children go in and out freely I would be forever counting!
Beetlebug Posted September 29, 2015 Author Posted September 29, 2015 Thank you mixed ratios guide. This will clear up confusion in the setting.
