lmwhite Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 HI, I was wondering if anyone has been on the Allergen training and if as a Preschool that only serves snack does the new law apply to us? I have received no info form our local council just word of mouth from another Pre-school Many thanks Lisa
thumperrabbit Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 We are a snack only setting and the Allergen law does apply - but not been on any special training for it. We just log what the children have been offered at snack that day along with the allergens that are within that particular food. 1
Fredbear Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Same as thumperrabbit, we went on the food standards website, downloaded all the forms and applied them for the snack and cooking we provide into a folder, notified all our parents, job done. 2
diesel10 Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 We just display a poster of all the potential allergens that we serve and the traces. Has anyone seen this information in any other establishment. I haven't and I've been looking since it started. In waitrose at the weekend, they always display ' these products may contain traces of 'everything' poster' My son wanted a bun / cake so I asked at the counter if they actually served any products with peanuts in. The young boy said yes and pointed to some products at the front. With me saying where, which ones, those with 'Brazil nuts in' . Me then saying well those aren't peanuts are they. To which the old lady said 'well you have to make your own' Well I'm so sorry, my son had to wait until I got home and knocked up a batch myself. Or went to sainsburys. 1

Please can I ask if you have a link to the forms? I've had a look on the FSA website but there's so much and I can't see anything! We only serve snacks, and I've asked that parents only bring fruit in now (we were getting all sorts of cheesey biscuits, dairylea dunkers etc!), but we will still provide breadsticks and a few other bits that WE have the packaging for.
Guest Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 There is some free online training! If you go to the food standards agency website its on there We have asked all our staff members to complete it It only takes about an hour. Ps the nuew legislation applies to everywhere food is being served (as well as others) so yes it applies to you
