Support for Mandarin

We have a 2 yr old Chinese child who we have developmental concerns about, he has virtually no speech and other concerns. We are finding it very difficult to discuss his needs with his parents as they have virtually no English. Does anyone know off any apps or source of help apart from google translate which is not very efficient!

We use a notebook which they then get a friend to translate but the answers we get back are too muddled for us to understand. Any ideas would be helpful!

can the person who reads/translate your notes not come into the setting so they can translate both sides of the conversation as it happens and ask any questions? x

We had a family who spoke Mandarin a couple of years ago. The child also had developmental delay, SALT helped and our local METAS office proved to be very helpful.

Metas :

Minority Ethnic and Traveller Achievement Service

In our LA we have a resource centre that we can borrow resources from if we have a child from any of these sectors. You can also borrow the resources to teach your children about different cultures and such like.

ah these appear to be separate around here...maybe because we have a high traveller community??? and a high ethnic community!!!!
