thumperrabbit Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 But how does this work with 2yr old funding then? Our hourly rate for funded 2yr olds is £4.85 an hour. There is no way we can increase our fees by that much Ahhh well this was in the days before 2yr funding! So it would be interesting to see if LEA would say the same now or not! 1
klc106 Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Like mrs bat, if we increased our fees we would loose quite a few parents and with only 14 children on roll this is not something we need!!
Guest Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I think a lot of people get muddled by trying to give the free entitlement (to parents) a value. All the DfE guidance states the free entitlement has no monetary value. We advise our providers to sort parental bills as in the following example; Parent uses 30 hours per week minus 15 free hours = 15 hours to pay for at your, provider set, hourly rate. What the LA might fund you at is between you and the LA and not something this LA would share with parents. 2YO funding is a little different as the rate is fairly universal and centrally set by government (except when comparing London boroughs to the rest of the country) - the average appears to be £4.85 although we choose to pay £4.95 but the same principle would apply when billing for extra hours. Hope this helps some of you

That's what I was 'trying' to say!
SueJ Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) What the LA might fund you at is between you and the LA and not something this LA would share with parents. Information about what LAs fund is in the public domain so anyone can find out what the rates are by downloading the early years benchmarking tool spreadsheet https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years-benchmarking-tool Note however that this only gives a headline rate - not necessarily the one received!
