Guest
Hi everyone, I'm in reception for the first time since the new 2012 EYFS. I've just been informed we are going to be moderated this year so i want to be clear on the ELG for maths (becuase when we go to meetings this is the one that always stumps people and that tripped people up last year) so i basically want to know what is expected for children to be able to do when it come to the doubling, halving and sharing bit in the ELG. Are we expecting children to be able to recall doubling and halving facts     or are we just expected them to have an understanding of it e.g.to be able to do it practically with objects. Thanks in advance, (& sorry if it doesn't make sense) x
Wildflowers
Our understanding and what we do is to use different amounts of objects up to 12 to double, halve and share into equal groups. I suggest that you check the Profile Handbook though.
BevE
Look at the Exemplifications for Maths, they are useful.
