reports....how much?

I would be interetsed to know how much you all write for your transfer/summative reports. Last year, I wrote a nice chunk in each area, so the teachers would get a real 'feel' for the child.............and heard from a source in school that it was too much. This year, I wrote a couple of lines or so for each area......and guess what?? same source ( TA) tells me it was scoffed at as being too little.........I wrote to ask teacher for feedback, were reports what she needed and I have yet to receive any reply. So...........what do you do: lots, or little?? :huh:

Hmm, it's hard isn't it. I concentrated on the CoEL this time really and just gave age bands in developmental areas, then I wrote a summation of things they had particularly enjoyed. The teacher liked it anyway.

By what you say, probably too much. But so what! They don't have to read it all.

Similar to Cait - but we're very lucky in that the Reception class teacher comes to pre-school to meet the children, she sits with each child and looks through their Learning Journey folder with them and makes a few 'notes' of her own.....

We comment on each strand of each learning and area and a comment regarding their characteristics of effective learning. Near the bottom I put my suggested next steps to move the child on.

I commented on each section and some in COL too we also meet and verbally tell teachers about children they have always been very happy with what we do.
