Tax-Free Childcare & New Flexibilities for Opening Nurseries

Recommended Posts

Just spotted these new consultations;

Newsflash - Early Years and Childcare

Please find detailed below details of the latest consultations linked to early years

Tax-Free Childcare

The government is consulting until 14 October on plans to introduce Tax-Free Childcare for working families and additional assistance with childcare for parents through Universal Credit. You can find the consultation document here.

This consultation invites interested parties to comment on the detailed design and operation of Tax-Free Childcare. It sets out the eligibility criteria, the approach to managing voucher accounts for each child, the role of the market, and the key information and validation processes. It discusses the design of different aspects of these policies, and poses questions in those areas where stakeholders are likely to have knowledge or insight. The answers that the government receives to these questions will feed into the final design of Tax-Free Childcare.

New Flexibilities for Opening Nurseries

Department for Communities and Local Government is consulting until 15 October on proposals that will extend the planning relaxations recently agreed for schools to nurseries.

If agreed this will allow the conversion of premises currently used as offices, hotels, residential institutions, non-residential institutions, certain agricultural buildings, leisure and assembly buildings to nurseries without the need for a full planning application.

This should speed up and simplify the process for opening new nurseries. The consultation is available here. This is your opportunity to express your views.

Makes me wonder who has vacant, 'offices, hotels, residential institutions, non-residential institutions, certain agricultural buildings, leisure and assembly buildings' wanting filled with nursery assistants on basic wage and kids piled to the rafters on funded places all hours of the day? And who's going to benefit from administrating all these tax free places?

Not going to end well.
