Panders
Granddaughter has been tapping the keys on my laptop. It is now frozen and will not accept mouse plate commands and only a few keyboard ones - can anyone offer advice on returning device to normal again pleeeeeeese. Inge
not technical and could be wrong, but I usually try a reboot , often clears issues when the cats have walked across my keyboard but may be worth seeing if someone comes along with other advice.. Steve
Have you tried re-starting it Panders? If you can't because of the mouse plate you can do a hard re-start by pressing and holding down the power switch for 5 seconds or so. If you have already re-started then I'm a bit stumped! And unfortunately I'm going out now so can't help further until midnight or tomorrow. If anyone finds a glass slipper I didn't get back in time...

Panders
Thanks all, yes did reboot as you suggested Steve, and not much different. Have been sitting here trying one or two things and then hey presto it began again. I think some grit (or poss glitter) got lodged under or near the plate, anyway something went crunch! and all began working again. yipee, was sooooo worried, so much work on the lappy now, couldn't be without it.
redjayne
So Panders maybe now is the time you get yourself a pen drive or external hard drive and save all the stuff you would be gutted to lose - so when the laptop does eventually go to 'laptop heaven' you won't be quite so broken hearted and you can just load all the bits onto the new one ( or anywhere else you choose) :1b
