Thank you Beau!

I love it! I don't usually like sinister stories as I am a scaredy cat but there is something fascinating there.

Also, a running theme, me thinks??? I have led a sheltered life.

My nan used to read those Cinderella and Pied Piper stories from a book she had when we were little. Wicked nanny :o

Some of those old stories are awful! My Mother-in-law gave my daughter persistent nightmares with a german tale of the wolf and seven kids - baby goats - The wolf eats the kids except one who hides in a clock and tells mum when she returns. Mum finds the goat asleep and cuts him open to get her kids out and sews him back up with boulders inside, so when he leans over the river for a drink he falls in and drowns - lovely eh!

had totally forgotten that one.. remember it from own childhood... my mum hated Grimms fairy tales (wolf and 7 kids is number 4) which were usually the more gruesome ones... but for some reason I loved them!

Ooh I remember that one Cait! I suppose we must remember that these were not originally stories for children but for adults, who were mostly illiterate and would listen to these stories as warnings and beware this could happen to you!

I know I'm a wus, but got to number six then decided that I didn't want to think of those unpleasant things when reading the 'sanitised' versions, so stopped :o
