narnia Posted May 17, 2010 Share Posted May 17, 2010 One of our children came in today with bits of a new song she has learned on her school visit ( not our local school, otherwise I'd ask the teacher about it!)..............she kept asking us to sing the song, but all she could recall is that the frog sings 'la de da de daaa' in it!!! Not much help, but does anyone have ANY idea what this could be?? she's so enchanting when she sings it.............and she COULD be making it up, but she's insistent that the teacher sang it to her and she's astonished that I don't know it! I know it, but with eyes closed on the da, tongue out for the glumpf and instead of glumpf glumpf glumpf we do eyes closed, tongue out, hands in the air and say aaaaah, The da and glumpf bits with the eyes and tongue are sung with an mmmm sound in the version I know Hope thats successfully confused everyone!! I always did a bit before the but we know frogs.. .. by doing a shhhh making it like a really big secret only we knew.. parents loved it too..but always had to come and ask what their child was singing as it never made any sense.. like Narnia they all thought the child was making it up! probably another of those we all know the basic song but have regional variations.. I learnt mine from a scout group.. and some of the other verses I would not sing with the children.. things like squish on the motorway! I had a fabulous male trainee teacher with me about three years ago and he sang this song with the children - the children loved the song (and him!)
