Do you have a particular country in mind, jennywreny? If so it might be worth starting with that country's embassy who should have information about emigrating/working there. Also, it might be worth doing a specific search for employment agencies who specialise in recruint for overseas vacancies.

Sounds very exciting - good luck with your search!

Hi jenny.

As the others have said, it really depends on where you want to go and what you want to do.

I have been very privileged in my life to have taught overseas with VSO twice, and it was the most amazing experience both times. Give us a shout if thats the sort of thing you had in mind.

Hi, I taught overseas in Portugal and actually got my job just by approaching the local international schools (I was going over there anyway with my partner's job).

There used to be a yearly fair in London (earl's court or olympia) where overseas schools looked for teachers. Have a look at the IB website as this is most likely the curriculum you'll be teaching if you go to Europe.

Watch out for dodgy contracts - make sure you know what you're signing up to!

Good luck.

Hi there,

I have been in Qatar for a week now, having come out with a team of Advisory Teachers. They are still looking to increase the team so get in touch if you would be interested. The jobs have been widely advertised in Nursery World. Still very much in the initial stages and team building. Quite an appealing thought just as you lot freeze in subzero UK!

You can read my blog if you like - just started.

If you are looking to apply to Australia - I can help a little as we are currently nearing the end of our application process.

In order to gain a visa to work in Australia, you have to check that you are eligible. There are a range of types of visa and therefore a variety of ways to get there.

However, teachers are not currently on the critical skills list - which has been cut considerably due to the state of the economy. While this doesn't mean you can't get there, it does mean it will be a long drawn out process. (I will be going on my hubbie's visa as he is working in IT)

Also, there is no shortage of teachers already within Australia but they have predicted a baby boom and so are currently keen to get more childcare educators over there (but again they are not on the critical skills list and so may take ages to get a visa)

Please feel free to pm me if you want more info. Good luck !
