sunnyday
OK.......... Jane is drawing a plan of her house. Her scale is 4cm to 5cm. The hall is 10.5m long. How long is the hall on her plan?
mundia
Yes Panders, work backwards. the answer is 45, take away the 9 (opposite to what was done n the question which was to add9). Then double the answer, again the opposite of the halving in the question. Does that make sense. Ok just for Panders please. I am thinking of a number. I take away 4 then double it. I get 16. What number did I start with?
Motherclanger
36+36 = 72 36+9 =45 Is this right ? Told you I'm rubbish ! My 12 year old son has just told me he's embarassed because I've taken sooo long to find the answer ! My reply there's a lesson for you, make sure you do well at school the first time round ! mundia
Well done Panders, easy isn't it? Sunnyday, the scale in 4/5 so all you need to do is find 4/5 of 10.5, ie divide by 5 (2.1) then muliply for 4 to give 8.
Marion
Er....seriously now .......how did you get there?
