HappyMaz Posted March 26, 2009 Share Posted March 26, 2009 I was sad to read in today's Nursery World that Elinor Goldschmeid has died aged 98. A true pioneer whose life's work impacts upon our practice in so many ways, the article pays a glowing tribute to her, as you would expect. Amongst those quoted in the article, Professor Sonia Jackson and Jennie Lindon summed her philosophy up very succinctly. The former said "Above all, she saw infants and toddlers as individual people whose experiences and feelings are just as important as ours". Jennie Lindon said "her approach always placed babies and young children at the centre of any experience". It says it all really. Guest Posted March 26, 2009 Share Posted March 26, 2009 ty Maz for bringing this to my attention bless her but wow what a life Elinor must have had an amazing life and has inspired so many.The knowledge that I make an impression upon the lives and families of young children however small is something I hold very dear to me. I've been ill recently and not been working. The smiles, laughs and contentment of working with young children has been greatly missed. Guest Posted March 26, 2009 Share Posted March 26, 2009 I have only just recently heard of this lady-when I was looking to purchase some treasure baskets for our childrens centre.I found the articles very interesting and she sounded like a very knowledgable lady.Sad to hear that news.
