Ah - that would be West Ham then? My father-in-law has supported them for about 75 years. He seems very cheerful recently so I guess they're doing pretty well?

(not a football fan myself, I'm a Welsh rugby fan, so I've been smiling more than usual the last couple of weeks!)

A warm welcome to the forum Phil, xD What is your role in Early years?

As for your team, well, I could be described as 'gunnered' rather than hammered, but then wine can have a strange effect on me sometimes. :o

Oops forgot to say, my autistic chap that I do one on one support left today to go to a specialised school. I was very sad to see him go but I have enjoyed joining in with the party so it's cheered me up......as it often does.

Sal :o

Glad to know we've cheered you up, the forum has done the same for me over the years. xD

It is sad when children move on but also a proud moment to know that your work has prepared him for a positive transition.

For valentines, I've had a night away in Oxford, lovely hotel which, it turned out, doesnt open on Sundays so we were the only guests. I've been treated to a massage and a day at a swank hotel in Birmingham, had chocolates, and DVD's.

All that from a man who, after being together for 27 years, has forgotten that we dont do valentines day! xD

Ah, how romantic, I bet it's valentines every day in your house. :o

Currently I'm the reception teacher and SENCo in a small single-form entry school, although possibly may be some changes in the coming months. My main interest is early literacy tho' have got the EY bug since moving from Y2 a couple of years ago.

Nice to get to know a bit about you Phil, I used to own a preschool but closed in December 07, I'm also a foster carer to 4 children aged from 5 yrs to 13 yrs.

I'm currently thinking about applying to be a school governer in my childrens' Primary school.

Hope I'm not too late. I've been looking after my grandchildren all day and had to have a cuppa and a sit down before I could think straight. Mind you, reading some of the posts I think I would have fitted in well.

Mary

PS, welcome to you Phil.

Oh and a big thank you to all that post. I have been a member for quite a while now. I don't post a lot but I do pop in daily. This site allows me to voice my own personal views without being shot down because I may feel different. Long may it continue.

So following on from another recent post....open questions....

1/ What would you do if the forum wasn't here? ( doesn't bear thinking about)

2/ Where did you work when you first joined the forum, do you still work in the same place?

3/ Why is the forum soooooooo addictive?

4/ When do you log in.......?

5/ How did we survive without the forum?

6/ If we didn't have the forum, how would we keep up to date with EY issues?

my answers:

1/ AAAAAHHHHHHHH

2/ Own preschool - now at home with foster children

3/ Because there is always something interesting and new to read, find out about, learn about, everyone is truly interesting and interested in the Early years.

4/ most every day, more than once.

5/ local intranet, work colleagues, but nothing compares to the value of the diverse range of professionals who are members of the forum, across all sectors of the profession.

6/ It may be possible ( but doubt it) but you don't get as much info and diverse info in just one place, it would take many journals, magazines, internet sites etc to find just half of what I have learnt on here.

this site is so good thanks to all for your help and inspiration, I recomend FSF to everyone I go on a course with . I even have the web site included in my quality assurance portfolio as a source of up to date information on the early years. Well worth the subscription.
