Hehe, are you planting beach plants? We thought a line of sandcastle flags, windmills etc would look quite jolly!
thinking more sandunes!!!!!!!
-
I can't do that time..........but as Happymaz has shown an interest I know you'll be there until the 'wee small hours' so I may pop in then!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We've dug so much into the flowerbed from frequent replenishings - especially over the winter when the darlings sneeze and snotter into it that we are seriously considering using compost instead - to improve the balance in the flowerbeds TEE HEE
Same here - our very small bit of graden is beginning to look like a beach!

I love the idea of the world breaking picnic on the Monday - think I might put it to staff tomorrow.
Thanks Cait for flagging it up.

oh well we can never say our job isnt interesting or challenging!!! probably wouldnt want it any other way!!!
It's because we like going 'round and round and round and round' in circles so much that we work in childcare!!!!

We usually get ours from tesco or toy r us when it's on special offer... we rarely seem to get smelly sand -unless something gets put in it such a playdough that's not spotted at end of session and 'grows over week-end'!!
We change it every half term regardless.. not sure if that the norm or not.

Hi Wolfie
Don't worry-you haven't put me off!
I just thought it might be useful as the whole parental involvement thing is a biggy at the moment. I may just come away with a couple of new ideas-I don't think perhaps I will learn loads of new stuff but at least when OFSTED do arrive I can say I have been on the training.
Linda
Also..a day away from setting - hopefully with a nice lunch is often all it needs to 'recharge and remotivate' - it reminds you what you doing is right - or if you need to change ot tweak things.

Bemused. And again feeling like I have to apologise for being a qualified teacher in the Early Years.
Cx
Why would you need to apologise?
I think most just annoyed about people with totally unrealted degrees getting preference when years of expereince in early years is not even taken into consideration.

Thank to everyone
I'll be trying shortly and let you know how it goes.
Plenty of towels seems a good finishing point!
Parents will be involved as well and they had great fun in the past,(large scale floor painting and shaving foam play)
Sam
Just remember not to wear dark clothes on that day
- tends to look like dired snot... not good if you have to stop of at the shops on way home!!

Sometimes I just feel we're all expected to be so 'informed' nowdays - also using this site means we all keep pretty much up-to-date with things that often we already know the content of the course better than the trainners!!!!

We do have an extra sheet with our registration form with likes/dislikes favorite things, sibliing names etc.. we do put this one in profile folder.

We keep our in filing cabinet - they hold so much personal information I'm not sure I want them in the childrren's personal folders - for us these folder/profiles are working documents that come in and out - the children look at the 'scrapbook' parts - parents take home if they wish etc.. how would you keep track of the forms if they were in them too?
Also what if you need to look up something urgently?
maybe I'm missing something - but it wouldn't work for us having them in their individual folders

WE do a register at the beginning of each session. We used to use the pre school learning alliance one but could't fit all our children on so we devised our own one.
We have a typed sheet for each session and list the children who are booked in for that session
We put 2 year olds in a different colour(easier to look for when adding up totals)
Each sheet has lots of columns so one sheet covers the while term ie: Mon Am every mon for that term! Am I making sense?
We write time in individual box if they arrive after register done and highlight and put time in if they leave early.
at the bottom of each sheet we show how man 2's nhow many 3's , how many staff and then give a toal numeracy for each sessi on
So basically we have a ring binder with 10 sheets in one for each session of the week and this is a terms register.. .
Ofsted saw this when visiting and said that this was fine!
Oh forgot to say we put s for sick and h for holiday and u if off with no reason.
Do we work in the same place??????

I Essex that is what we are told on training 80/20%... not sure if it's in the actual guidance though.

Sorry- welcome to the forum susieCB

we managed to get a catering size bag for pennies as it was almost out of date. lasted ages and we were able to do all kinds of things with it.
-
we're doing 'dragon flags' well that's the theory - may end up with 'fluffy duck flags' thou!!!!

There seems to be a real shortage of Level 3 practitioners (for the last three posts I've advertised for qualified staff but none have applied).
I can relate to that!!!
-
what's more worrying is on the news today was the link to alcohol - even just one unit a day -
....................do you think red wine counts?!!! or is that classed as medication for early years workers? (as long as it in the evening of course- maybe chocolate should be consumed at same time to counter-balance negative effects)

Yes I have to second that - this forum is 'thee most wonderful support site' going!
Someone always seems to have same problems etc...
good work FSforumers... well done, slap on the back to everyone!!!

I would also say go for it.
How much longer have you got before you complete your DPP? as an propective employer this something I'd take inot consideration..... unlike NVQs the diploma has 'fixed' times., and as others have said it shows your committed to self development.

and if this were the proven case..................then would they still be using the wax anyway???????????
world's gone mad!!!
