That’s a wrap, not the easiest school group we’ve ever had and a year of staffing problems so not sorry to see the back of it, but now have a mountain of admin to catch up on, I’m not even sure I remember what my job is anymore 🤷‍♀️

I dusted off the sewing machine when my little GDaughter arrived ….

Gosh - that is really sad and so interesting to have first hand info as I'm sure most people imagine that dentists are absolutely 'rolling in it' (cash)

Well, I have to be honest judging by the cars our local dentist drives, and the other local one that has just opened a big new practice - I think our dentists faired a bit better. However that said- i do do live in a high 'implant/fake this n that'  area of the country, which could explain things. 😳

Cait -it must be quite awful for your dentist. Covid affected so many people, we lost most of our independant shops- now replaced with coffee shops and nail bars. 😢

I’m thinking of getting the sewing machine out of the attic.  It’s not seen much action since scrubs and mask making - do you remember those times?   Anyone else sewing scrubs?

I made some very fetching ones for staff to wear... we didn't use them in the end.  It all got a s bit silly around here- with hospitals asking people NOT to make any!

I seem to like looking at my machine just lately, possibly give it a lttle dust/clean 😂

  5. Morning all

1st day of the summer break for me 😁

Been to my dance/fitness calss this morning - it was hot!! Now planning on spending the rest of the day doing nothing...😁😁😁

No real plans for the week either😳 I feel totally drained  so jut need to rest for the week. (think it's the after effects of the shingles?)

Hope everyone has a good week.

  6. Morning all,

Well it certainly was hot Mon/Tues Sunnyday!  I'm not a heat lover at the best of times - Weds was the perfect temp for me. Enjoy the dog sitting 😊

Have a good weekend everyone.     Quiet one planned here.

Only incidentally - I like it but rarely sit down to watch on purpose.

    And… How we’re they?

     I’m having homemade cream tea!

Better than expected, but I'll not bother again 😁

  9. Hi all,

Sunnyday - I'm on babysitting duty tomorrow 😊

Not a very exciting week, although I did go for lunch somewhere I havent been since pre-covid.... it was really run down now,  and a tady bit dogdy looking 😳 It used to be such a pretty pub by a canal, I feel the cost of living may be forcing more people onto narrow boats nowadays.

Not that I'm counting- but I only have 6.5 working days left (until summer break) ... and most of those are just mornings 😁

Hope everyone manges to keep cool somehow this weekend.

    xx

I honestly think that you naturally know when the time is right to finally leave. It certainly was my time. And so glad that the pre-school has gone on to expand into full days and now takes babies! Which is what needed to happen, but I just didn’t have the commitment or energy to do it.

This is where I am at now, and we too need to lower our  age group, however i have no interest in that happening.

I will 100% definitely finish next July (when my GS leaves) ... but I'm not really putting my 'all' into generating numbers at the moment - so it could be Christmas.

Full transparency - yes I do! It is however a very small price to pay 🤣

.... and how long does it take to start seeing the  new year 'start' in January ? 😂

  12. To all of those who are 'out of it' I have a  serious question.....

What about the stationary fix?    Do you  not miss the joy of new folders, pens, diaries etc? ... and not to mention 'work bags'!

  13. Hi everyone.

OMG!!!! I cannot beileve we (I) only have 2 weeks 4 days to go!!

Another not very exciting week for me - although I have now got a chesty cough/cold 😭  I even took a Covid test, it was negative.

I did suggest that maybe we should close the preschool this year as our numbers are very low for September- but staff were rather against it for some reason. We are a not for profit group, and financially we can make it until December.  Long term - July 26 is the most definate end for me- that's when my GS leaves.

Have a good weekend all. x

Cait, I hope your poorly pet (dog I think?) is on the mend now.

Re the shingles- I was too late for the antiviral meds as i'd actually had it a week before it suddenly cliked it was singles and not insect bites plus a trapped nerve! I have been on painkillers though!

  19. Evening all

So sad to hear your news sunnyday 😢

Nothing much going on here, except I have shingles!

    Hope eveyone's ok - it's very quiet here 😮

Time is flying past so fast, I cannot believe we will only have 6 weeks left when we go back 😳.

    Have a good weekend all.

  21. Afternoon all.

Sunnyday- hope you mangage tonight 🤞🤞  We have a small thing on Sunday to celebrate VE day.

There is acually a big thing going on too - but most of the villagers are boycotting as it just seems to be a 'money making' event rather than a true celebration.

Hope eveyone has a good weekend.

I have had a lovely week with lots of reading and crochet. Visited a local nursery and bought some sweet peas and strawberries to plant at home - I've always wanted to grow sweet peas. Am gradually getting the downstairs of my house sorted out and have bought some theatre tickets for the future. The sunshine has been beautiful - lots of meals outside although my garden is such a suntrap that I can only do about 15 minutes in the afternoon when the sun is full on it!

You have bought back a memory!  Many, many years ago, as a newly wed, in our new (to us) house in the village I grew my first lot of sweetpeas .... i was so proud of them I decided to enter them into the Village show.  I turned up with my '5' best stems, the man gave me a bit of a funny look but let me in - then I saw the other entrants 😮😮😮😂  I tried to take mine home again, but the man made me leave them saying it actually demonstrated that 'anyone' can- and should enter. and that if my entry 'inspired more people' to try then I actually would have won the top prize anyway!- even if it I  wasn't the given trophy. 🏆😊

  23. Afternoon all.

All in all a pretty bog standard week here - nothing exciting to report!

Weather has been nice though- which always makes people feel better 😊

Hope everyone has a good weekend and making the most of the Bank Hol if you're still working but have the day off.

Hi all, I hope everyone had a good Easter 🐣, I ate enough chocolate in a weekend to more than  make up for the 40 days I’d given it up 🙈

I’m now nanna to a granddaughter (Chloe) all went well and quickly,  (thanks for asking Sue), very excited to be able to knit/make girly things 💗
