  1. I thought that I might share my little adventure:

Yesterday morning I was pegging out washing - the wind was so strong that I was starting to worry that I might end up in the 'Land of Oz' 🤣 when I heard 'c-r-a-c-k' that unmistakeable sound of a tree breaking...

It was our neighbour's Sumac tree - it has broken and in turn crashed through our fence...

Quick call to neighbour - he immediately cut the tree (good job we are country folk and fully equipped with chainsaws!) - fence is currently 'propped up' - no sign of him this morning but surely he must realise that it is down to him to repair the fence...I do hope so

  2. Good morning - 'tis Friday

    How is everyone?

Last Friday we hosted our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning - last year we made £1000.34 - I had been telling myself 'don't think about that, we won't equal that and it doesn't matter' - guess what - we 'topped it' - whoop! Still waiting for the QR payment totals but already over £1000.00 - very chuffed! Such generosity shown by all.

Horrible wet and windy day today but can't complain really we have had some beautiful weather - guess I will have to do some housework today as I can't be in the garden.

Hope the weekend is good to all x

I have loads of green tomatoes- I'm leaving them out until tomorrow evening, then bring them all in to (hopefully) ripen!

I see green tomato chutney in your future!

Hi all.  I am still around.  Finding it all a bit mind blowing tbh.  As soon as you get your head round something, it all changes!  So this week's challenge for myself, is to pop in here on Friday! Bit of gardening this weekend x

    Yay!

    Lovely to see you posting

Sunny day - do you have Søstrene Grenes store near you?  Bit of a game changer in the stationery department! 😂 It's sort of like an upmarket Ikea.... but Ikea prices. You walk around a meandering route whilst looking at lots of pretty things (including stationery) that you don't really need whilst  listening gentle tranquil  classical music!   I also quite like a Tyger Tyger store too- but that one better with the GC in tow 😂

Bother! No we don't - actually nothing good in the stationery line, not even Paperchase...

Thanks both - they are keeping her in - her BP is through the roof despite meds

  9. Oh Crikey - I spoke far too soon - DIL's mum is back in hospital - 'hopefully' that sounds odd but anyway 'hopefully' another TIA as opposed to a major stroke - she went in by ambulance this time as literally no one could get to her quickly, the paramedics made the decision to take her to a different hospital and said "if this was my parent, this is where I would want her to be" she now has her brother with her and DIL is on her way...she has had another CT scan and is now waiting for a repeat MRI.

Louby - sounds like you have it covered - I did have a little 'swoon' when I read 'new diary'

Young froglet - youngest son and DIL have a lovely firepit which they use a fair bit in the autumn

Very busy, but much better week here - phew

It is absolutely lashing it down as I write this - I know that we desperately need the rain - but it is battering my flowers that I  have cared for so diligently 🙃

    Hope everyone is okay?

    Happy weekend all x

Late to the Friday chat - but just had a lovely week in Norfolk.

Sorry to hear about your week sunnyday. TIA's are a worry,  but often a a early warning sign. My brother had one about 6/7 years ago, and is absolutely fine now, and they thought Andy had one about 10 years ago - but it turned out to be a return to migraines (he used to get really bad ones in his20/30s). The good news is they are now both in 'the system' and get regaular health check-ups. Andy has his next regular MRI scan next Sunday.   Good that your week ended well with  a little show 🎶🎶💃🎶🎶

Thanks so much louby - that is all so encouraging.

I don't usually 'knock' the NHS - Mr S has received some outstanding treatment...however, this all happened on Thursday, my DIL went straight down, 111 said ambulance unless you have someone to take you - that was easy my DIL drove her to hospital where 'eventually' she was given a CT scan and that was how they diagnosed TIA as opposed to Stroke - not too bad so far...but then they released her at 8:15pm with no info apart from call in at Tesco and buy some aspirin - that's dreadful.

Thankfully the 'specialist team' rang on Friday morning and gave her further instructions e.g. do not drive for at least 28 days...

Oh well, onwards and upwards, she now has a MRI scan and assessment tomorrow morning so hopefully this will be informative and should lead to appropriate meds being prescribed.

  12. On a much brighter note - Mr S and I have been to watch our youngest granddaughters drama school's production of 'Annie' this afternoon and very good it was too - very proud nana and granddad!

  13. Good morning - 'tis Friday

What a horrible week we have had ... dear friend died Monday night, not expected at all and yesterday my DIL's mum suffered a TIA.

I have had to educate myself pretty fast about TIAs - I had no real understanding of the implications for her...

Hope that everyone else is having a better time and can enjoy the long weekend x

  14. Good morning - 'tis Friday

Phew another hot day - am looking forward to the slightly lower temperatures that are forecast for the weekend...

    Hope everyone is okay?

I have big news! Well it's big to me 🙃 I have a new granddog - he is a beautiful Labradoodle you may remember that my youngest son and DIL lost their very elderly Chocolate Lab - their remaining dog, Golden Retriever, went into a decline, he was so depressed...his new 'brother' has been life-changing for him, he is back to his usual happy self and of course, we are all head over heels in love with the new addition! 🐶❤️

Hope that the weekend is kind to all x

Cait that must be very very difficult going through and parting with your late husbands treasures. Sounds like you are doing well though. How fantastic that the museums and railway associations have taken some, lovely to think they have moved onto good homes. I’m sure your husband would approve.  What is it with men and the whole this useless bit of rubbish might come in handy one day? My husband does this with bits of steel and wood. The thing he has most of though is rags! He can’t suffer to see me chuck an old duvet, pillow case, t-shirt etc. He has to have them! Even though he has bags and bags of them! And he really does not love decorating that much that he needs all those dust sheets! He’s just finished repainting the front porch and put new carpet tiles down BUT he’s been talking about doing that for FIVE YEARS!

Well - it doesn't pay to rush into things 🙃🤣

I take your ‘declutter’ and raise to you my late husband’s workroom, still to be tackled almost a year on 😕.  There’s a double garage like this too, an attic and a loft, although that’s largely sorted except for the humongous LP collection.

Oh Cait 😥 that's hard going...

I do sigh when Mr S 'scrounges' yet more 'stuff' - usually wood and tools - knowing that (almost certainly) I will be faced with sorting at some point.

If it helps, my late brother-in-law had loads and loads of 'specialist' books which my sister was able to give to Oxfam - she contacted them, told them (roughly) what was available and a very nice young man came and took two car loads away - they wouldn't be displayed in any shops but would be advertised and sold online...

Good luck with it all x

I'm trying to declutter the house - that's not acutally working out though.... I think I'm just adding to it! 😂

Oh yes I know all about that a case of 'why did I even start this'! 🙃

At our singing group/choir on Tuesday the leader was telling us that her lap-top wasn't 'speaking to' her printer - I said "just let me know what you need, I can easily run off some song lyrics" - famous last words - my blessed printer has now thrown a hissy fit and at the moment I can't fulfil my promise - arrghh
