That’s a wrap, not the easiest school group we’ve ever had and a year of staffing problems so not sorry to see the back of it, but now have a mountain of admin to catch up on, I’m not even sure I remember what my job is anymore 🤷‍♀️

I dusted off the sewing machine when my little GDaughter arrived ….

Oooh - that is just gorgeous Mousie ❤️

Summer 'to do lists' are the absolute pits - please make sure you get time for yourself and family xxx

My brain’s a bit mushy today - only just realised that it’s Friday! I have done some epic weeding and miss clearing on the path between mine and my neighbour’s house - looks amazing if I do say so myself! 😉 I find that I keep going to check on it’ 😂 Haven’t got any plans for the next week at the moment - my old school doesn’t finish until the 29th so please send some sympathy their way - next week will be a struggle!

    Oh no 29th - that's horrible for them☹️

Well done on the weeding - so satisfying when you can see a real difference

Daughter-in-law was back just after 12 - she had just picked up my two youngest grandchildren from school - she had a sunflower plant in hand and said "please would you 'save my life' and plant this up, we are getting straight off now"! Obviously no problem at all...

  3. Good morning - 'tis Friday (louby beat me to it!)

Phew - agreed louby it is already very warm - going to be a real 'Scorchio' of a day down south before it all breaks down later ☀️🌩️

Have taken delivery of a granddog this morning - this time it is our beautiful Sprocker - she will be here for two weeks 🐶❤️ currently she is in her favourite place - lying on a nice comfy mat by the open French Doors on 'cat watch' - my neighbour has three cats - we won't be seeing them in our garden for the next fortnight! 🤣

My plan today is to get all of my washing through and out on the line - I am winning so far - two loads out and final one in machine now - I don't have a tumble drier - my choice - so I need to be a bit organised before the rains come!

Loved watching school children walk past this morning - most carrying gift bags - lucky teachers!

    Hope everyone okay?

Have the best of weekends x

It was for our local dentists who missed out as most scrubs went to hospitals.  Private dentist is still in huge debt as he had to remortgage to get all the extra filtration equipment and apparatus he needed as well as paying full staff with only one or two actually working.  He’s wanting to sell the practice and retire, but because of the remortgaging he’ll walk into retirement with hardly anything to show for it.  So sad.

Gosh - that is really sad and so interesting to have first hand info as I'm sure most people imagine that dentists are absolutely 'rolling in it' (cash)

I seem to like looking at my machine just lately, possibly give it a lttle dust/clean 😂

That sounds entirely reasonable to me - you don't want to rush into anything 🤣

I’m thinking of getting the sewing machine out of the attic.  It’s not seen much action since scrubs and mask making - do you remember those times?   Anyone else sewing scrubs?

Goodness Cait - sewing scrubs that feels like a 'lifetime' away (not that I made any, as you know I can't sew for toffee!)

Lovely to see you posting on the Friday thread ❤️

  7. Good morning - 'tis Friday

    How is everyone?

Not long now - end of term/school year is nearly here!

Granddog has been just lovely - he will be going home tomorrow - will be 'replaced' with a different granddog next Friday! July is certainly dog sitting month for me - all good very happy to have them.

Two youngest grandchildren have had fabulous school reports - very proud of them ❤️

    Loving the tennis!

    Not loving these mad temperatures!

    Onwards and upwards

Have a good weekend all x

I know we haven’t had it as hot here as you guys have up country, but it’s way too hot for my peri menopausal body! Hot flushes In this weather are not fun!
I did go for a swim in the sea yesterday which was blissful. First time I have sea swam in  a decade (im ashamed to admit that living within half a mile of the sea) then today 89 year old Mum joined me! Was so lovely.

That is so special - go zigzag's mum!

Most of our nearest beaches are flying 'brown flags' - awful situation

  9. Good morning - 'tis Friday

    How is everyone?

The practice run with granddog in preparation for his solo stay went well - not sure what I was so worried about really - hope that's not famous last words as he arrives today for his week long stay!

Didn't enjoy those extreme temperatures at the beginning of the week - must be an age thing - at one time there would have been no such thing as too hot for me 🤦‍♀️🤣

    Loving the tennis!

Hope that the weekend is kind to all x

The garden is going well - I've picked my first strawberry and a couple of handfuls of sweetpeas and my 'herb garden' shelf is settling in nicely.

Look at you with the gardening young Froglet - way to go!

  11. Good morning - tis Friday!

    How is everyone?

    The nicest thing happened yesterday:

I was at the GP's surgery pharmacy and as I left I ran into one of my 'old' Pre-school parents and her now grown up daughter...no time to talk beyond "how lovely to see you, how are you"...imagine my surprise when yesterday evening I received an email from 'mum' updating me on the 'children' and apologising for not having time to chat...I can't believe that she still has my email address and what a lovely, thoughtful thing to do...

I have a fairly busy day in prospect - one of my 'granddogs' will be delivered to me anytime now and will stay for a few hours - this is a 'practice run' as although he is very used to being here it has always been with his 'brother' who is so sadly no longer with us - he is the biggest, most beautiful retriever but  he is also a big 'wuss' and I'm not sure how he will cope when my DIL leaves - hopefully I am worrying about nothing...he will be coming for a week long stay starting next Friday - wish me luck! 🐶❤️

This evening I am babysitting two youngest grandchildren!

Have a lovely weekend all x

To all of those who are 'out of it' I have a  serious question.....

What about the stationary fix?    Do you  not miss the joy of new folders, pens, diaries etc? ... and not to mention 'work bags'!

Full transparency - yes I do! It is however a very small price to pay 🤣

  14. Good morning - 'tis Friday

Another week has just whooshed by...

    How is everyone?

How amazing is this weather - I am so enjoying this retirement lark - it's been a while now but I am still 'surprised' by the idea that I can do as much or as little as I like - think today it might be the latter!

Have a good weekend all x

Everything is crossed for you Sunnyday! I remember the last time! It's very sunny but also very blustery up here - I wonder if the storms are heading north.

Thank you young Froglet - we were so lucky all restored by lunchtime - phew - hard to not overreact think we are all scarred by the events of summer '22!

  16. We had the most spectacular storms here last night - went on for hours...

This morning we have no water, not a drop...apparently the storms caused a power outage at pumping station - let's hope this is shortlived this time and not the beginning of a week without water and needing to collect from a water station, that is still etched in my mind- please keep your fingers and toes crossed for me and my fellow villagers!

  17. Good morning - 'tis Friday!

So pleased to discover that I am not alone in wanting to keep our 'Friday catch ups' going

  18. Hiya louby

I am here - I wasn't sure that people really wanted to chat anymore so I didn't say 'Good morning -'tis Friday' today...

    How are you feeling now?

  19. Good morning - 'tis Friday

Thank you all for being so kind about my beautiful granddog x

Louby - how are you? Shingles can be so nasty - did you get some meds to help?

Young Froglet - hope you got to the Art Exhibitions?

Zigzag - great news about the 20 week scan - whoop!

Mousie - that sounds so tough - would love to do a bit of 'bank work' with you but too far for the commute!

Sue - pleased that you enjoyed your break

Babysitting duties went well - lots of fun had by all - back to 'normality' today!

Have a lovely weekend all x

  20. Good morning - 'tis Friday

Have had a bit of a sad few days as my beautiful Chocolate Lab granddog had to be put to sleep - I just need to remind myself that he had the best life imaginable and his suffering was quickly relieved 💔

I have lots of 'babysitting' duties with my two youngest grandchildren coming up which will be lovely.

How can it be half-term already?

Hope that the weekend is kind to all x
