Jackie A. Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Don't forget it's Children in Need next Friday (17th). There are some great interactive games on the website. I've spent ages playing the "Picnic for Pudsey" and "pick a pair of pants". I'm sure the children will love them if you have internet access in your setting. http://www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey/funandgames/
narnia Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 yes, and if you phone up to make a donation, you might get to speak to me!! I've promised my time to help on the phone lines, so an evening of fun looks likely!! PLEASE keep me busy, it's a good cause and i don't want to be falling asleep at my keyboard!!
Guest Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 I will certainly be phoning up with a donation!
Guest Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 yeah me too we'll be fundraising at nursery again too last year we raised £590 not bad for a small nursery
hali Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 i never forget its always the friday after my daughters birthday on the 16th
mundia Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 we wil be doing our own bit here in the forum... once we have decided what that 'bit' is I might even let you know..... Those of yu around 2 years ago may well remember out last efforts... here if you have ideas..let me know!!
Guest Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 We have never participated, going to arrange something with my nursery - how scandalous we haven't done anything before!!!!!
Rea Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Two years ago Doesnt time fly?! If you have thought of another marathon story count me in. I've got the other one written down somewhere
mundia Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 oh dear Rea!!mayeb if we did another one we can call it the FSF Pudsy story collection (hmm how many does a collection need to be?)
Sue R Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Oh, I've just realised I have a really busy day next friday! I'm in Loughborough during the afternoon where my wonderful son is going to arrange for me to 'hang out' with Bill Bryson (well, he's working a show for him and will try to get the opportunity for me!), then a quick dash back up the motorway in time to go to the Nottingham Arena to see the amazing Muse. oooh, can't wait!! Can you make it something that goes over onto the Saturday?? Sue
mundia Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Well I am looking for ideas Sue so if you've got one, Im sure we can extend it into Saturday.
Marion Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 I will have to get Pudsey back out of the cupboard! Doesnt time fly!
JacquieL Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Just a thought. What about us all changing our Avatars to a bear for the day and they all have to be different . Sue R could change hers the day before so she can have her fantastic day out without feeling guilty. We could 'sponsor' an avatar so to speak if it doesn't cause Steve any headaches.
mundia Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Hi Jackie. I find the changing avatars difficult to follow but we can build in your idea to whatever we do.. above all else, Id like to have some fun as welt as raise bit of cash for Children in need
Sue R Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 I'm with you there, mundia - maybe I could post photos of my amazing day?? - only joking, I'm not that good with a computer, besides, I doubt Muse will want to pose with me....hmmm.... now, how can I get my son involved with their show?? Sue PS, you'd better believe his ability to 'fix' it! From having a day off pre-panto, he's suddenly bailing a friend out working a show for Rodney Bewes! (For the children amongst us, he was one of the 'Likely Lads' - which is probably as clear as mud, on reflection!! LOL) S xx
Beau Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 How about some bear poetry - existing or made up?
Rea Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 I like that idea. We can make them into a book and sell them Do limericks count?
mundia Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 I'm just wondering about copyright issues, I think we would have to insist they were home grown, would we? keep the ideas coming, good job we still have a few days
JacquieL Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Oooh oooh I'm composing already - I think I should confess that poems are not my strong point, but I'll try. good fun though.
mundia Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 me neither Jackie, OK so do we like the poem idea then folks?
hali Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 oh dear never been any good at poems, never mind always a first.
Susan Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Not a strong point here either! SO is this a group task/ collaborative or individual?
Guest Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 i like the poem idea it would be fun to do a group one - a line each although i have to say poetry isnt a strong point of mine xjojomx
Guest Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 although rubbish at poetry love the idea of a joint poem as i lived reading the story from before if I get to it might even try it with the kids at school we are dressing up in school uniform for the day as requested by the school council!!! not sure all this pupil voice is such a good idea! Jo
mundia Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Ok so the FSF 'poem' seems like a good idea. Rea mentioned limericks, which has a rhythmic style most people are familiar with, so how does the FSF longest limerick sound..where people can add a line (for the less poetic amongst us) or a whole verse if feeling brave. Incidentally the world record for this is 104 verses (or are they called stanzas?). As before we can pledge per line, per verse, or make a flat donation, (if you wish to) to Children in need. What do you think? It could run from Friday into Saturday so that SOME people who are TOO busy on Friday can still add their bit (not mentioning any names!!!!).
