Lunchtimes in a Governor run School Nursery

Not sure if this is the correct place to post but here goes ..

We are looking at expanding our school nursery to offer afternoon sessions, it will be open for 30 hours a week in total.

What we are struggling to work out is lunchtimes - can Nursery aged children just join in with the main school for lunch, being supervised by lunchtime staff who don't have a qualification? I would've thought the answer would be no?! In which case as there are 2 members of qualified staff in the nursery I presume they will have to stagger their lunch break.

If you work in a school nursery how do you organise your day with regards to staffing?

I pretty sure the answer is no.

I've always eaten my lunch with the children working 8.30 - 3.30.  I might be corrected but I think most pre-school staff do.  No set breaks but a bonus of finishing at 3.30pm everyday.

In our nursery staff have 1/2 hour unpaid lunch, away from the children if they work 6-7 hours, they have an hour if they work 8+ hours and they can choose either 1/2 an hour or an hour if they work 7-8 hours.

I think in school situations it is slightly different: Statutory framework says at p26:3.39 and footnote 45.
