Thomas Quinn
Hi all We a new crèche starting up and a staff member has requested that her child attend the crèche, this is because other childcare arrangements finish at midday and would be easier. As we only currently have one room her child will be in the same room. How does everyone feel about it? We haven't got a policy as yet about but I will need to create one. I spoke to the staff member saying that I need time to think about but if it was going to happen then she would need to stay professional at all times and that will reviewed continuously thank you for the advice
FSFRebecca
We generally say that staff cannot look after their own children as we felt there would be inevitable conflicts of interest for the staff member. We also felt that it would be confusing for the children. For example, it would be hard for a child to understand why they could have/could not have cuddles and kisses as they would normally do from a parent when other children are/are not getting that. finleysmaid
Actually my daughter attended pre-school when I started work there (she's now 22!!) and we currently have a member of staff who's child attends (we give her a free place because her Mum is a degree led professional so it works well for us) We have a couple of rules though...including that if the child needs 'dealing' with then another member of staff does this
sunnyday
My youngest son was with me - that's how I got involved in the first place - have had three of my grandchildren with me too - if I can keep going long enough I hope that the youngest two will be with me in time My Deputy has had two of her grandchildren with us too Handled sensibly this causes no issues at all in our experience
