So Jamie is at it again wanting to ban school cake bake sales.  I understand that there is a weight problem with some of our children but I think he has lost the plot with this one.  Bake sales happen maybe once a term in a school and actually are a brilliant and easy way to raise quite a lot of money.  I think he is hypocrite, bet he serves desserts in his restaurants and has cakes in his recipe books!  I remember an item on his tv show where he was cooking with his kids and they made a triple layer meringue filled with marshmallow spread and chocolate!  Couldn’t be more sugar loaded if he tried.  I think there are much better ways that he can use his status to educate people rather than moan about a bake sale.

We have cake sales once a term at the local boys school....they raise us a quick and very lucrative buck. We would seriously miss this additional income which is used to support all the children in our setting. In this day and age of funding shortages I think he's meddling in things he knows little about. We need to educate families to eat healthily but how about going for the big guys (like McD's and KFC) who have much more of an impact than a cupcake once a term>:(
