Tracking development of Down Syndrome

Recommended Posts

I know this is in the wrong place but thought there was more chance of people seeing it.

We have a child who has Down Syndrome. Our LA has given us a document to use to track her development. It is basically the Development matters statements, but with extra statements added in to break down each point.

We are finding that this is not really working for the child and feel that we need something that is more tailored to her disability. We have tried contacting the Downs association but they do not have anything we could use.

Would be grateful if anyone could share what they use for children with specific needs.

Thank you

Thank you so much, very helpful

Strangely enough it was a parent of a child with Down Syndrome that first introduced me the whole set of documents. The parent loved the document too - she like the way the statements where broken down in statements that actually meant something to her daughter. I think at that time it was called something like a 'Family File' which could be shared with all agencies.

I had the full set of these on the shelf at my Preschool. I didn't get chance to use them as they were designed for. One of our LA advisors got them in the end I think. They were really useful for reference, especially with students first learning the EYFS statements.
