Littlemay Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 We made an application to the DfE for capital funds back in August and the decision is iminante, just wondered if anyone else is awaiting a decision?
Littlesparklesnursery Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Yes, we did too. and it's painful waiting for the outcome. Not sure how long left
Foreveryoung Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Decision is to be made in December - didn't say start or end of December though arhhhh! Slightly impatient? Me no not at all ..... times dragging
Littlemay Posted November 19, 2016 Author Posted November 19, 2016 I've been working on the assumption that "by December" means sometime in November, only 11 days left!! Our LA that submitted the application said they haven't heard anything at all but glad to hear it's not just us who's still in the dark! Good luck to everyone that has applied. 1
MagicStar Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Was there the ability to Apple directly to the DfE? We only completed an Expression of Interest via our local authority earlier in the year but have heard nothing since.

There was a extremely short time frame in June/July Edited November 20, 2016 by Littlesparklesnursery
Littlemay Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 Hi Magicstar, as Littlesparkle says the LA sent us a really complex application form in July which we had to turn around in a couple of weeks. The LA then submitted the applications to DfE at the end of August...
MagicStar Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Thank you both for clarifying. Yes, that's seems to be what we had done.
Littlemay Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 What sort of projects have you requested funding for? We are a complete new build so as soon as we get the go ahead it will be all systems go to get it up and running for next Aug!
Foreveryoung Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Relocation/new build ... keys hand over date is scheduled for 1 st week of September - tight turnaround to be open for second week, not looking forward to the workload but looking forward to the overall future ..... if it happens
Littlemay Posted November 21, 2016 Author Posted November 21, 2016 Exciting times! Sounds like there has been so much time and effort from all of us to get to this stage which is all now hanging on this decision. Let us know as soon as you hear anything. Fingers crossed!
hali Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Heard from the DFE yesterday and they said you would hear in December and have monies in Jan 17
Littlesparklesnursery Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Heard from the DFE yesterday and they said you would hear in December and have monies in Jan 17 thanks for update. did you enquire directly to DFE? does anyone know what conditions/contract will be?
Littlemay Posted November 22, 2016 Author Posted November 22, 2016 Heard from the DFE yesterday and they said you would hear in December and have monies in Jan 17 Oh great, thanks for the update hali, I had half hoped we might hear tomorrow as it's the Autumn budget but maybe not then. Any details on how/where you got this info would be really helpful, thanks again!
Littlemay Posted November 22, 2016 Author Posted November 22, 2016 thanks for update. did you enquire directly to DFE? does anyone know what conditions/contract will be? Littlesparkle, the only condition I know of is that the 30 hours funding places which the grant creates need to be up and running by Sept 2017. I seem to remember being told that the LA would administer the grants and I guess oversee the projects to ensure the deadline is met. I hope that if/when an offer of a grant has been made that it is guaranteed as we need to place the order for our timber building ideally before January in order to keep to the time scale. This will mean putting in our own funds so we need to be sure that we will definitely be getting the grant on time.
FSFRebecca Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 I will be putting up all the information from the DfE update, including their 'road map' slides on a thread later today - watch this space... 1

All done, it's there now Here's the link
Littlesparklesnursery Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Many thanks. straight onto page 9! 'heavily over subscribed'. It would be a great shame to lose the funding considering the level of work, time and money already invested.
Littlemay Posted November 23, 2016 Author Posted November 23, 2016 Thanks Rebecca. The presentation info still says decisions will be "by December 2016" so it's still a case of watching and waiting I guess.... 8 days until December (and counting!)
FSFRebecca Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 I think, from what we were told, 'in December' is more realistic I'm afraid
Littlemay Posted November 23, 2016 Author Posted November 23, 2016 I think, from what we were told, 'in December' is more realistic I'm afraid Was there any indication of how we will be told?
FSFRebecca Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Was there any indication of how we will be told? I think through the LA as the bids were managed through them
Foreveryoung Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 (edited) Our LA could submit 8 bids and they didn't total the full allowance that could be applied for so I'm waiting very impatiently with everything crossed and everything crossed for everyone else too..... who's betting they make us wait till last day of December ! Edited November 24, 2016 by Foreveryoung
Littlemay Posted November 24, 2016 Author Posted November 24, 2016 Our LA was six and as far as I'm aware they didn't reach the total for the LA either. I'm so over waiting now, I just want to know! This is why I'm confused over how it can have been oversubscribed as each LA had a limit of projects and funds.
Littlesparklesnursery Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 ours was 6. unfortunately our LA don't tell us anything so no idea if 6 were submitted. I definitely think they'll make us wait till end of Dec. Every email notification I get I'm hoping this could be it!
Littlemay Posted November 25, 2016 Author Posted November 25, 2016 I emailed "Childcare Works" who are project managing the 30hours role out for the DfE and their response was "in December".
