Guest Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Our chairman has been with us for 9 years, and is very happy to continue with us as long as the Pre School need him, no parent in that 9 years has ever wanted to step up to chairman let alone any of the other roles! However our 2010 constitution states that no one can be on the committee for more than ten years. Has anyone else had experience of this and managed to work around it? Or will he definitely have to leave? He is without doubt one of the best we have ever had, so it will be a sad day for the pre school if he has to step down, and even more annoying that it imeouldnt be his choice to! Any advice would be gratefully received x Quote
Fredbear Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Hi our memorandum of articles states 6 years. I will be interested in any other responses. Do you work to the PSLA constitution, it might be worth contacting them for advice if you do. It does seem silly for him to have to do this if he is happy to continue, however my understanding is that a committee should ideally be current members of your users to your facility/provision. lsp Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 We are in exactly the same position. In our case it's our Treasurer who has in post for nearly 10 years. We are looking at ways we can keep her in post. Quote
finleysmaid Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 when we were in this position we remodelled our constitution which was accepted by the PSLA . We are now a limited company (charity status) which means we are able to create our own articles which govern us therefore this is now not an issue Quote
Rea Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 We were in the same situation so I fuddled the names and roles for a year and then went back to as they are now. Quote
