Stargrower
Please could you tell me what you think about a head teacher sharing the details of a reference I had written with a candidate she was interviewing for a TA post? I have really upset a member of my staff who is leaving by grading her 'satisfactory' for one aspect out of 15. All the rest were 'good' or 'excellent'. I was taken aback when she approached me about it as I did not think it was normal practice to reveal details of a reference with an interviewee. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. Foreveryoung
Off top of my head I thought you had to state if you didn't want it disclosing to applicant, I don't do a lot of interviews so I'm not completely clued up but that I believe u have read/known from our recent interview process x
diesel10
I think when you write anything you have to be prepared for the person having the possibility of reading it. Having said that the other person was totally unprofessional in approaching you about it.
Guest
I was given all my reference to read and keep by my deputy head before I went for interview !
Guest
when we ask for references there is a line that says something like 'this may be shared with the applicant' - not sure that we ever have done so, but I guess one thing out of line with a general picture would be something I would want to probe a little, albeit in general terms. I don't know if this is usual practice, but I have seen something similar on some reference forms I've filled in too. Having said that I do usually give people a copy of what I have written.
