Guest
I know this may sound stupid but a colleague as told me that a worker can be left alone with 4 two year olds......in old statutory guidance it said that there had to be two staff on duty at all time no matter how many children were in the session. I insist on being 2 staff on duty even if there were only 4 in the session/ ?????
Wildflowers
Two adults even if there only was one child.

laura
I always find it frustrating that childminders can have more children if the children are over the age of 8, a childminder I see at school regularly has 6 to 8 children, including 3 under 5's.... Mouseketeer
I do agree there should always be 2 staff in settings but it is absurd that it's acceptable for childminders to be alone with more....maybe childminders don't need loo breaks ;p

A scenario could be one childminder (e.g. needing the loo), being responsible for 1 newborn, 3 two-year-olds and 2 five-year-olds. (I looked up ratios on Pacey's website.)
