Gingerbread is a small 'home from home' nursery situated within The Oval Park in Saltdean, we have direct access to the park, beach and local shops. We offer a caring and nurturing environment in which our children flourish. We are a free-flow nursery which has recently been refurbished throughout, including the addition of a new, larger garden. We are open 51 weeks a year and can take up to 20 children in a session from birth to 5 years old.

We are looking for an experienced Early Years Practitioner who is ready to take the next step up to Deputy Manager. You should be able to demonstrate good leadership abilities; excellent knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted welfare requirements; excellent communication and I.T. skills; an open-minded attitude, the ability to use your own initiative and be creative; the ability to support a staff team and create strong relationships with children, parents and colleagues.

You will lead the day to day running of the nursery, with support from the manager who is office-based. The successful candidate will be expected to work to a high standard as part of a team supporting all the children within the free-flow environment, supporting staff with their planning for the inside and outside learning environments. You will be expected to plan for children’s 'next steps' in the weekly planning and be part of the 'key person system'.

Your contracted hours are on a shift basis which gives you half days as well as whole. Training is both encouraged and expected.
