Rea
Hasn't appraisals just been removed from the new EYFS?
Guest
Yes it has, however we will continue to do them. We do supervisions with staff every roundabout 6 weeks, some more where necessary. This is often just a 15 minute chat and then we do an appraisal after 3 months (end of probation) and then after they have been employed for one year. For this I ask the members of staff to rate themselves against statements taken from their job descriptions. And I do the same and we compare. hopeytg
They have been removed from the EYFS but we were told this was a requirement in Employment Law. I am looking at changing ours this year so would love to see some examples.
woodlands1997
I can upload ours when I'm on laptop. We do supervisions roughly half termly and appraisals 6 monthly! Supervisions informal and appraisals staff have a booklet before and a bit similar to missdoofus x
toddbrook
Hasn't appraisals just been removed from the new EYFS? Yes it has been removed Rea, however I am still doing them as I feel they are a good way to stay in touch with your staff and allow them to voice in private any issues or feedback. I also set a couple of goals for them to work towards.

My desk as Manager is located in the centre of the Nursery so I get to feedback to staff on a daily basis however I still feel that having one-on-one feed back sessions every 3 Months and appraisals annually works the best. finleysmaid
Remember that if you are going to discipline staff at any point you will need evidence that they have been underperforming...supervisions and appraisals are one method to do this!
