apple
Dream girl if you are in a school nursery do you have a school bursar or business manager who deals with the budget? If so they are usually the person that the info will be sent to regarding this - that person as well as the head of course.
dreamgirl
Have asked them and they don't know anything but will check again. Thanks.
fimbo
We haven't heard any info yet , we have been receiving a ' deprivation payment' for the last few years - this is based on the IDACI scores of our children, we never know how much we will get ( if any) - I assume the pupil premium will be based on the same lines. bubblejack
We are a pre-school and have also been receiving a deprivation grant over the past few years for certain children.I think it depends on where they live.It is a very small amount but gratefully received though!! Guest SamG
The way I understand it is that the pupil premium will be added to the hourly free early years entitlement amount. Not sure how much extra it will be, but will wait and see.
Guest
I was at a meeting yesterday with DfE who said it is not yet known exactly how this will be distributed but it is likely to be distributed via schools - perhaps through the schools forums - and to both schools and PVI. finleysmaid
don't even know if we have a school forum! so that doesn't bode well!
Fredbear
I thought all areas had to have a statutory schools forum working alongside your LA, made up of members including, head teachers, governors, EY, unions etc. These are we're decisions are made regarding budgets for all the different sectors within the Education system in your LA. May have got this completely wrong though.
Guest
Fredbear, you are right. There has to be a forum in each LA with reps from all interested groups, including early years. This is likely to be a route for the premium to be chanelled to schools and pre-schools. However this is thought to be likely, NOT definite yet. SueJ
Well if it goes through the schools forum the chances are that the pvi sector will not see much of it - the make up of the membership of schools forums is heavily weighted in favour of schools so unless there are specific safeguards to distribute this universally I won't be holding my breath for any of it any time soon
Guest
I know what you mean about schools forum being heavily weighted in favor of schools. However I was told that there would also be a very specific requirement to show how the money is being used and the impact it is making. I am going to stay optimistic for the time being - the choice is do that or cry!!

I am in a school nursery; schools receive pupil premium for all children who are vulnerable to possible underachievement. These include pupils who are entitled to fsm, looked after children and children of armed service personel. It is a current focus of Ofsted - and schools are required to report on the amount of funding received and how it is being spent to close the gap in children's learning. Hope that helps.
