Sweet shop role play

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hi

Our children have requested a sweet shop role play for after easter.
We thought we would save easter egg boxes and chocolate boxes. I was thinking of having playdough to make their own sweets.

Any one done this before or got any ideas?

Thank you :1b

No, I haven't done this before - the nearest is an 'ice cream parlour'. Do you plan to make all edible sweets?

You could go to a sweetshop and ask for the plastic sweet storage containers and any signs that they no longer use.

Good luck - I'm sure others will be along soon with some more ideas.

We've just had a 'Sweet shop and cookie shop' at the children's request. We made it look a bit 'Olde Worlde'! We had empty chocolate and biscuit boxes - in a mixture of sizes (smarties, after eight mints and a box of milk tray if I remember rightly!) I used some clear plastic cups and put labels on these were going to have playdough 'boiled sweets' wrapped in cellophane but we never got around to it as the children kept raiding the bead drawer and magnetic letters for their pretend sweeties. I loosely crumpled some pink tissue paper and put into plastic bags to be candy floss (that was really popular). We had a conversation about different sweets they knew and could have gone on for ages making them in different ways but they've lost interest in the shop.

We did put a balance in and made some sweet shop bags so that they could weigh out sweets. We also produced an order form for advance orders for special occasions!

Have a look at the Imagination Tree for Willy Wonka playdough ideas - here.

No but made chocolate play dough which was brilliant - just had to stop them eating it! Ours used to like Lego bricks as sweets, used tongs and put them in bags on our old fashioned balance scales, just never got to being a passion for them, just occasionally. We used the inserts from chocolate boxes with the play dough for counting etc, beads and stuff like that. You might be able to use the plastic eggs in pound shops and decorate them for the shop? Could make some Fimo sweets, or painted pasta?
