Guest
Hi I'm still fairly new to all this and as our numbers grow I am spending more time doing invoices and checking ratio etc. Can anyone recommend an affordable software package that would create the invoices. Also how does it work with the free 15 hours needing to be credited! Thank you!
DebbieW
Hi....I am currently looking into the same thing. Most of the packages seem to set up things lup for you...ike your 15 hours and your hourly rate etc....to get you going. I am looking at Redfish at the moment because it is a monthly payment based upon how many children attend the setting. No huge financial outlay. £100 to set it up and for training. I saw this at the child-care expo and the demonstration was very slick. Registration is done on a tablet...just tapping the screen when children come in. booking for ad hoc extra sessions or lunches etc can be viewed and booked instantly and an invoice can be in the parents e mail box before they get home! this system is cloud based too so you can access it anywhere.(obviously with secure passwords etc...). any updates to the system happen overnight and there is no charge for these. Seems to do lots of things like calculating occupancy levels, and forecasting, invoicing. I have also looked at Pre school Learning Alliance which is about £400 and is not cloud based. they will give you a 30 day trial.
Stargrower
I have used Instant Nursery Manager for about five years now and find it good. How much is the Redfish charge Debbie (roughly if based on numbers of children)? Edited April 13, 2014 by Stargrower
MarshaD
I'm also looking at Redfish - think its £1.50 per full time equivalent per month. Having more discussions after Easter so can keep you posted.

DebbieW
Yes £1.50 per FTE....full time equivalent.....sorry should have made that clearer. I now need to clarify the hours of a FTE!
Stargrower
I would think a 'full time equivalent' is the number of places you have each day? Or registered places as it used to be? Mind you, thinking about it as i type, that would only be the case if you were full every day.
Guest
thank you all- redfish sounds very interesting but would also need to be a bit clearer on pricing. I will post any info I find too thank you!
MarshaD
Nick Simons emailed me this: Subscription - £1.50 + VAT per FTE, per month. Training on site £100 plus travel costs or training at our offices (address below) £100 Data Transfer £350 per half day. (Optional) One nursery usually takes half a day. Cait
Hmm, that's getting more expensive then
DebbieW
You can have the option of entering your own data which is the option we would choose especially going into September we will have around 20 children....wouldn't be too onerous. I would be happy to do this during our summer break if we go ahead.

I have looked at Instant Nursery Manager...what are your thoughts? it is currently about £370 for the cloud based version. I am interested to know whether you would recommend especially after 5 years.
Stargrower
Yes, I'd recommend. We don't have the cloud version though (didn't know there was one!). One of the main reasons I chose it is that it is very flexible. We are a day nursery with three rooms, open 8 - 6, but we don't run set sessions so have lots of different attendance patterns. This works really will with INM as you just enter the child's times broken down into 15 minute slots, so if you have a child that does 8.45 - 4.15 you can easily enter that. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy to enter extra sessions, holidays, bank holidays, meals, etc. etc. It also has sections for allergies, emergency contacts, special diets etc. but we don't use these so much. There's lots of info and demos on their website. Edited to say Redfish is sounding expensive! Edited April 16, 2014 by Stargrower
MarshaD
Just had a look at INM - preschooler. Looks good and coming in more inexpensive than Refish. Cloud version works out more costly so think may try the static (is that the right word) version. Thanks for the info.
Wonderstuff16
We have recently got the cloud based versions of Instant Nursery package. It is great, so much easier having to deal with registers and contact details. It takes a while to do all the inputting but once its up an running, there is so many differnt reports you can run. Really helps with the funding and credit control and invoicing. We went for the cloud based version as it means it is always backed up rather than stuck on one persons PC. Means you can have more than one person logging on, so I can access as the Administrator and so can our Nursery Manager.
