Farmers market ideas

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi we are developing our role play area into a Farmers market, after discussing with the children about fruit on the trees and harvesting. We are using our shop front, baskets, boxes, some real fruits and vegetables as well as our pretend ones too, alongside bags, purses, tills, money, telephones, calculators, notepads and mark making tools.

This is also linking to looking at foods/ crops that are harvested, making chocolate brownies and preparing harvest boxes for next weeks visit from our local vicar, where our parcels will be given to our local food bank, and women's refuge, as well as exploring sharing and caring.

Any other suggestions.:)

Apart from oats and beans and barley grow, any other songs and rhymes please.:)

one potato two potato

In my little garden now promise you won't laugh

I haven't any flowers, I haven't any grass

But now I'm going to dig and plant

And soon I'll have a row

With a bit of sun and a bit of rain

There'll be a lovely show of...

1 potato, 2 potato, 3 potato 4 etc etc

5 fat peas in a pea pod pressed

1 grew (flick up finger), 2 grew (2 fingers carefully!), and so did all the rest

They grew and grew (raising hand) and did not stop

Until one day the pod went pop (big clap!) :1b
