Hi i have recently been landed with the role of manager i didn't want it but have no choice at the moment - it's a very long story but i am going to need help.

i have been reading this forum for interest for a while and see that you are all a great support to each other. so i hope that i can be of help (even just to have a rant at) to you all.

First thing: Appraisals, how often do you do them and does anyone know of a good template. i would guess at twice a year, one informal and one formal?

You will probably see quite a lot of me in the coming months :)

And my smilies dont work....

Thanks in advance -

I do an annual appraisal for all of my staff and every two to three months they have individual supervisions. I did post the supervision/appraisal form on here somewhere I will see if I can find it.

Hi Lou and a very warm welcome to the forum :1b

Wonder why your 'smileys' are not working...........

I hold appraisals annually - however just to add to our workload we have to carry out supervisions too - I think these are meant to be termly.......

Have you tried a 'forum search' - bound to turn something up for you - or you could check out 'resources' - I do have forms that i have downloaded from here in the past.......

Looking forward to getting to know you :1b

Thankyou all , and i will have a search xD and smileys working now...

quick "all about me" :D i am 30, married, with a daughter aged 6, and....one on the way (early days yet, so its kind of a secret  ) i live in Manchester, Cheshire. Have just completed a degree in Early years, pretty much worked with children since being 16, in fact, i have just been made manager at the private day nursery i started my NVQ at 15 years ago!! so mainly early years but i also am a qualified residential social worker.

Ermm, now i have finished my degree and was looking forward to some time off studying, but alas, i need to focus on work now...so i guess i will be here quite a lot.

Pleased to meet you all.

Secret is safe with us!

We have appraisals every year, but need to get our heads round these supervisions now too. There are quite a few appraisal templates on here, I think our last one came from here.

Welcome from me as well, rest assured any question you ask on here someone will have the answer to it. Congratulations about the secret!!!

Congratulations,

I carry out annual appraisals and half termly supervision meetings which tie in with when staff do their PRAMS updates for the children so I moderate their assessments at the same time, look over their onservations and they can also discuss any concerns with me (not that we don't already do it on a daily basis anyway).
