jennyjenkinz Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 I wondered if anyone knows of a free (or very cheap) IEP writer that I could use?
Cait Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Do you mean a template to write on or an computer programme.
Susan Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 IEP writer is a program, Cait. We stopped using it as it did not really fulfil our needs. The format our new HT gave us was actually much easier to use!
Cait Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 I wondered if that was the case, but I can't see how it could cover every eventuality. We have to use our County one, which is very laborious and time-consuming - lots of pieces of paper to write on!
Guest Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Hi we have just started using an IEP writer which is part of our school's SIMs system, we have until now always written them by hand on our own sheets. I have no idea if it cost anything or whether it came with the system the office used for data but will try to find out as I have to say it is brilliant. We were all skeptical about how a computerised IEP writer would work but it really does help as for every area of difficulty, you can click on the child's level of ability or area in FS and it suggests possible targets etc most importantly, it allows you to write your own targets if none of the targets were suitable. Will try and do some finding out for you Deb
jennyjenkinz Posted March 19, 2012 Author Posted March 19, 2012 thanks guys. yes busy bee thats what i'm used to using but as I don't work within a school anymore I was wondering if there was something similar. Off to the childminder drop in group tmw morning so hopefully will find out more x
Tigger Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 We used to use IEP writer and I found staff were just using the statements and not focussing on the individual needs of the child, it is just too easy to use their generic statements. I adapted the child friendly IEP's based on those in the book by Gillian Stotten by Lucky Duck Publishing. Having just checked the copywrite I can't post an example as they are still too similar to the ones in the box. Designing your own is easier that buying a program? S
jennyjenkinz Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 Ccould you tell me the name of the book? As I can't seem to find it! thank you x
Tigger Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Hi, Gillian Shotton Pupil friendly IEPs and Target sheets and other pupil friendly resources. It states the age range is 6 - 16 however as I have said we taken the ideas and adapted where necessary. We use these style IEPs for children in Pre school upwards. S
