dottyp
Our long standing pre-school of 37 years has outgrown it's tatty old village hall. However, we may have the opportunity to move down the road to a new village hall! Has anyone else been through this process and has knowledge or advice they could share regarding change of name, registration etc. I have looked through the ofsted site but have been unsuccessful so far! thankyou dottyp

Guest
I think you need to re register with Ofsted as a new business even though in effect you are still the same (hope I haven't confused you)
Cait
Ofsted will need to okay your new premises so they'll do a visit and measure stuff and tell you how many children you can register for. (That's what happened to us anyway)

(That's what happened to us anyway) thanks Cait. Did u have to re-register your provision or did u just move everything from one building to the other and continue trading?? dottyp
Cait
Well ours was because we were being 'shunted' out of the school hall so had to move to the church hall, it was a continuation of provision - just a premises change, but was have fewer toilets now so our registered places number dropped. They came out at this sort of time of year to look at the church hall and made some recommendations and we moved all the stuff over the Christmas break. We had the weeks between now and January to implement their recommendations. The only change was the registered number of children. We did loads of fresh risk assessments of course, but nothing else changed.
finleysmaid
if you are changing postcodes you will need to re-register!

finleysmaid
Really? Is that a new one then? We changed from 7RZ to 8ST we moved over the summer this was confirmed by our lea and by ofsted...but then who knows whether just because they said it last month means it still applies
Cait
Haha - well ours was 2006, so it wouldn't surprise me that things have changed. Mind you, having said that, ours was meant to be only a temporary move, from January to July that year - but we're still there!!!
Guest
We simply changed our name, only dropping part of it and Ofsted said we had to re-register this week, even though premises and staff/committee stayed the same! Good Luck

I have got a better idea on how to move forward now and will be contacting Ofsted and the LA next week. Fingers crossed we may be able to move sooner than i thought! dottyp
