mps09
Hello all you knowledgeable ones!!!! Here's the problem.... We are going on a trip on Monday and found out TODAY! that even though we were told that the coach would have 3point seatbelts - they haven't they have only got lapbelts. Therefore some child seats won't be useable with these belts. We have told parents that if they want to use a booster seat/cushion then the child must weight 33lb or more (as this is the minimum weight for these seats) although there is no legal requirement for a car seat on a coach. Now one of the parents has asked us "are you saying it is better for them to travel without a car seat them?" I want to say that yes, it is better than putting a 2 year old on a booster cushion aimed at 4-6 year olds. But I can't find any evidence!!!! Anybody got any views, advise, website, etc???? Would really appreciate a quite response. Thank you!!

Guest
Perhaps try phoning your local police station - after all they're the ones who do the spot checks? or the fire station - ours offer a carseat fitting check so would surely know what advice to offer. Good Luck, hope you get it sorted. Nona

Guest
when we travelled by coach on a monthly basis to forest school. The coach(most coaches if not all) have lapbelts these were fine and legal. Some of our children at 2 1/2 were comfortable and safe in them. It wouldn't be so bad if we hadn't found this out 10 minutes before we closed today - having already told parents that they MUST bring an appropriate car seat!!! Thanks again.
