May offer some useful insight for anyone with responsibility for "cared for" or "looked after" children within their settings. Did anyone else see it? Those parents are amazing and don't know how they found the resources in themselves to take her on with everything else they have to deal with. The saddest part for me is that the bottom line of any decision making is always about money. How could anyone even consider letting her go back into care for the sake of saving money, especially when it would cost a different dept so much more. I won't say what happened but I will say don't start watching if you don't have time to get to the end. You'll be late for whatever you're meant to do. Annie-pops Posted April 12, 2011 Author Share Posted April 12, 2011 I thought the parents were amazing because they seemed to have a real intuitive understanding of how her early problems had given her very specific needs and, how in turn that had an impact on her behaviour. I found the bit where they were feeding her as if she was a toddler very touching as they were trying to give her experiences she may have missed out on in her early years. Frightening to think the parents had to face the dilemma of whether they would be able to continue with the placement and adoption because of the lack of funding. Heaven only knows what would have happened to Maisie if the placement broke down Although it didn't surprise me at all, having seen first hand how sketchy and badly thought through the resources and services can be in relation to children in urgent need Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
