Hi - does anyone know of any great poems or rhymes about or featuring wild animals?

Have been searching 'google' - but without much success :o

Ah - quick edit to say........have just realised that I can use the rhymes from 'Rumble in the Jungle' doh!

One elephant, one fine day,

went on a spider's web to play,

He thought it such tremendous fun,

He called for another elephant to come.

Two elephants one fine day,

went on a spider's web to play,

they thought it such tremendous fun,

they called for another elephant to come.

and so on until may be you have 5 elephants dancing around in a circle,

and last line might change to they played all day in the sun (doesn't scan well, will look for the real words!!)

in the Puffin book of songs we have

The elephant is big and strong;

His ears are large, his trunk is long,

He walks around with heavy tread,

His keeper walking at his head

(walk around very slowly, swinging from side to side; head bent down and one arm hanging down as the trunk)

An elephant goes like this and that.

(pat knees)

He's terrible big,

(Hands up high)

and He's terrible fat,

(hands out wide)

He has no fingers,

(wriggle fingers)

He has no toes,

Touch toes)

But goodness gracious, what nose!

(make curling movement away from nose)

There's also that book and song Animal Boogie, ours loved that.
