SmileyPR Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 I thought a tomato is a fruit ( got pips). Now the great tomato debate!!!!! Peggy 28400[/snapback] Because of the seeds? Indeed... When will this be clear? I just thought of my salad Quote
Guest Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 I said Marrow but like others of you my work mates and hubby say I am certainly not normal, Quote
mundia Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 yes, botanically speaking, tomatoes, as well as cucumber, courgette, peppers etc are indeed fruits. The term vegetable is loosley used to refer to the non seed bearing edible parts of a plant eg leaves, stem, roots etc. But culturally we tend to think of these things as veg. Quote
Rea Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 Tomatoes are fruits, the lady on a recent pizza advert said so! But, getting back to who's normal or not...I am. Quote
Sue R Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 What!!! Susan, there's definitely something wrong with this, it makes Rea normal! !!! Sue Quote
Susan Posted March 31, 2005 Author Posted March 31, 2005 Well I'm glad to hear it! And as for the fruit and veg, well now I know! But I also know, I shan't be eating any of those 'fruits' with ice cream! Quote
Rea Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 Even more shocking Sue R is the fact that I wasnt shocked that you arent!!! Quote
Guest Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 Hi, everybody I said potato too and it is a bit spooky that most of us "not normal" answered the same Quote
Rea Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 Especially to prove to Sue R just how normal I am... Last night I told hubby to add 5+1, 3+3, 4+2, 1+5. I then told him to think of a ....CARROT. Quote
Beau Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 A bit late in the day but I've been away - I said onion. Could be the stress of all that driving though. Quote
