titchy Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 i thought every setting that operated for more then 4 hrs a day had to have an eyps by 2015 but someone told me today that you don't have to do the eyps training you just have to have a level 5. Can anyone clarify this for me. Thank you Quote
HappyMaz Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 As far as I'm aware the aspiration is that all 'full daycare' settings need an EYP by 2015. This definition hasn't been updated since the new registration procedures came into place (as far as I can recall), so I'd say you're right in saying that groups who open for more than four hours each day will need an EYP. Someone with a Level 5 would need to top up to a full degree and do the long pathway to EYPS to meet the criteria. With regard to the 1:13 ratio for children over three, the EYFS is quite explicit that the only practitioners who can do this are those with EYPS or QTS. Maz Quote
