dreamgirl
This all sounds interesting-about your potatoes and chitting. Can I be nosey and ask what you are all doing with your potatoes? Am I missing out on something?!
Cait
we registered with potatoes for schools (or whatever it's called) to grow specific varieties - which they send with their instructions, and we grow them and weigh the crop on a particular day to see who got the most! SueJ
Have received our spuds and are ready to start chitting. Potato people have sent a timetable for us and we have a large pop up garden sack ready for when we start planting. Last time we grew spuds we got loads and made potato cakes v. scrummy. dreamgirl
i THINK i MIGHT HAVE MISSED THE DATE. cAN i DO IT BY MYSELF?
Cait
well you'll need 3 spuds of 2 varieties, and you plant them and watch them grow then harvest them in June and weigh them and see how much you've got. The children enjoyed looking after ours and monitoring the watering etc. We did really well last year and each child in my group (8) took a few home for their dinner, sufficient for a generous portion
Guest
I didn't know you could register somewhere for this but have been and bought "early" potatoes to grow with the children. It was a great success last year!!
